Have you heard of “Movember in November”?
As we end Breast Cancer Awareness month, we start Men’s Health Awareness month in November.
To do our part, Palaweña introduces “Movember in November” in Palawan, a global campaign that has started a movement around the world to raise awareness about men’s health.
HOW TO ENTER
Grow a “Mou” (short for moustache) this November to raise funds and awareness for men’s health. Let’s help in stopping men dying too young.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?
For every person who agrees to participate, Palaweña will donate P1,000 to a worthwhile, men’s health related cause or charity, otherwise, we will nominate one for you.
For each participant, at the end of November,
Palaweña will have you pampered at a male grooming service near you to shave off your beard and throw in a men’s wellness facial.🙂
Read on for more guidelines. Then private message us or email iampalaweñ[email protected] to register your participation.
Registration ends 7 November 2021.
Inspired by the Australian website:
A problem this size calls for big minds, and big solutions. But there’s a smaller, hairier solution to the men’s health crisis. A solution you can Grow yourself. A solution that’s sitting right under your nose.
TIPS TO HELP YOU GROW A “MOU”
01. BE PREPARED
Choose the moustache that will grace your face. Trucker, regent, connoisseur or wisp? Check out the options at movember.com.
02. BE BRAVE
The first few days, even weeks, can be uncomfortable as your Mo takes shape. Ride it out to encourage donations.
03. IGNORE THE ITCHING
Remind yourself that men
have endured worse in the past. You can stand a little face tickle.
04. SHAPE YOUR MOUSTACHE
Get across all the proper grooming techniques. A great Mo comes down to great grooming.
05. NURTURE IT AND KEEP IT CLEAN
Look after your Mo, and your Mo will look after you.
Join the movement and give back to the community you love!

Month of Indigenous People, Brookes Point
As we wrap up the Month of Indigenous People this October, with this year’s theme, “Katutubong Filipino: Atin ang tagumpay!” (translates to, “The victory is ours!), we’d like to acknowledge the indigenous tribes of Palawan.
The Philippines is a culturally diverse country with an estimated 14-17 million Indigenous Peoples (IPs) belonging to 110 ethnic groups.
The Cuyunons in Palawan (known locally as Cuyono), is the most dominant tribal group scattered throughout the province. Additionally, Palawan is also home to various other tribes such as the Batak, Palaweño, Palawano, and the Tagbanwa, who mostly live in rural areas in the mountains or lowland dwellings, most of whom have not totally embraced urban living.
This year’s theme highlights the ways in which Philippine indigenous people firmly manifest their optimism, views, and practices or their “strategies of prevailing” in the midst of adversities, including the current pandemic. The gatherings throughout the month-long celebrations give a platform to the IPs and the for sharing their unique heritage and cultural ways of living and traditional arts to the wider community.

Have you heard the song Palaweña? 😊
This week has been full of International Day celebrations, with the International Music Council’s International Music Day being celebrated yesterday too. 🎶🎧
We came across this song by accident a few months ago, aptly named Palaweña, composed by a local artist Kiel Coal and was the theme song during the Miss Palawan Competition earlier this year.
We like the catchy tune and wanted to share with our community. Please like and share one of our budding local artist. 💙
What’s your all time favourite song? Filipino or otherwise?

Earlier this week, the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem was celebrated globally, to raise awareness of the importance of mangrove ecosystems as “a unique, special and vulnerable ecosystem" and to promote solutions for their sustainable management, conservation and uses.
📍 These mangrove trails are a gateway to Palaweña’s farm in Bebeladan, El Nido, one of our key destinations for our agri-tourism and wellness tourism initiatives.💙

Palaweña collaborates with Palawan State University
Palaweña Rising Stars Highlight ✨✨
This week, we welcome five of the finest final year students of Palawan State University, studying Bachelor of Science (Tourism Management), to complete their on-the-job training with us in the coming months.
