SITGOA attends PH-US VFA Tempest Wind 2024 Forum
Dapa, Siargao –August 16, 2024. The Town Hall Forum was held at the Siargao Convention Center, gathering stakeholders from the Municipality of Dapa and General Luna. The forum focused on the upcoming Tempest Wind 2024 program aimed at enhancing the island's preparedness in countering terrorism.
The event served as a crucial platform for disseminating essential information about the PH-US Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) and its integration with the Tempest Wind 2024 exercise. Local officials, community leaders, and representatives from various sectors attended to gain insights into the strategic importance of these efforts and their impact on the community's safety.
Held at the Siargao Convention Center, the forum featured presentations from PNP of Dapa and General Luna, providing an overview of the Tempest Wind 2024 program and its role in strengthening local and national security measures. Attendees were briefed on the collaborative efforts between the Philippines and the United States under the VFA, which plays a pivotal role in the region's defense strategies.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of community involvement in ensuring the success of counter-terrorism measures. The PNP, LGU Dapa and LGU General Luna reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with local stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of our island, specifically the two key municipalities for tourism and trade, namely Dapa and General Luna.
