Of the many popular activities to do in Siargao or any beach destination in the Philippines for that matter, island hopping takes the top spot. In General Luna, the 3-Island Tour is the main attraction. By its namesake, this tour takes you to 3 different islands, all within a 20 minute longtail boat...

Who's going with you to the island? 😎

Something most local tourists tend to overlook is going out on tour by themselves. We're so used to guided tours and joining groups to cut costs to see local sights, and while there's nothing wrong with that, there's something to be said about going out and exploring the island on your own.

Who'da thunk the best pizzeria in the country would be in Siargao?
Okay before anyone gets upset, this isn't intended to rattle anyone's feathers. Kermit just blends the atmosphere of the island and a timeless culinary cornerstone so perfectly well, and maybe I just can't help but gawk at the circular wonders their peels harvest from the oven. Seriously, check them out.
If a whole pie is too much for you, DM us and we'll happily clean your plate for you 😋

Something most local tourists tend to overlook is going out on tour by themselves. We're so used to guided tours and joining groups to cut costs to see local sights, and while there's nothing wrong with that, there's something to be said about going out and exploring the island on your own.

Siargao's paradise isn't limited to its beaches or tourist spots, and renting a motorbike for a day will give you all the thrill of jumping off the Sugba Lagoon diving board, guaranteed. Just try to set off early-ish in the morning so you can get back by party time!

My best recommendation is taking the north-bound leg of the Siargao Circumferential Rd, circling to Del Carmen through Pacifico, Burgos, Santa Monica, and San Benito. You can't run out of stops along the way for pictures, beaches, and fresh coconuts. Once you get to Dapa, you can choose to either head back the conventional way (just follow the vans and you'll get back to GL), or taking the scenic Union Road to Malinao.

My favorite part of this "tour" is feasting in Union after the long drive before heading back. Mind you, some sections of this area are still unlit at night, so drive carefully!

Of all the ways you can cruise around Siargao, a 3B Customs piece between your legs has to be one of the best ways to go. With classic looks and aggressive styling, you can tell that sir Benjo Sun is a real busybody in the shop. If you haven't already, check out his custom Yamaha SZR hubless chopper!

Rent one yourself from Loose Keys Moto Culture along Tourism Rd, and start turning heads with your awesome ride 🏍️

One of the pleasures of being in Siargao are late afternoon walks exploring the General Luna area. If you're looking for souvenirs to take back home, a great way is to window shop from one end to the other of Tourism Road and keep track of your finds, then circle back to buy your favorites.

Another thing I personally enjoy doing is hopping from one hangout to another, stopping for a drink to enjoy the vibe of the place. It's quite the thrill, especially if you're traveling solo.

If you're a traveler looking for tours that let you appreciate the natural ecosystems that Siargao is well known for, get yourself to the north side of the island and take a mangrove tour!
Head up to the towns of Pilar, Del Carment, Pacifico, or Burgos, and you'll find a variety of tours around the mangrove forests that surround the teardrop shaped island, and you'll find variety in the mode of transportation too! Either via land, longtail boat, or even SUP guided tours, you're sure to be in awe of mother nature by the end.

Siargao is a haven for ecotourism, and one thing a lot of travelers are attracted to is volunteering for various causes on the island.

While their clean-up ops are currently on hold due to the pandemic, the SEA Movement is one of the most active groups in Siargao. As mentioned, they hold weekly beach clean-up operations and are always looking for more volunteers to lend a helping hand.

We're all looking forward to a vaccine, but there isn't one for irresponsible tourism and business practices. We hope everyone can keep this in mind, and we look forward to welcoming travelers again soon!

ISLAND UPDATE:
With the end of the pandemic no where near in sight, the Surigao and Del Carmen local government has extended the suspension of taking inbound travelers via Sayak airport to October of this year.

Seaports are currently only allowing local indigents and individuals with important business to enter the island, given that they are carrying the appropriate travel documents.

Given the current situation, we urge everyone to sit tight, stay indoors, and keep safe!

We are going to be providing periodical updates about Siargao weekly either through social media or through our website, www.hello-siargao.com so stay tuned!

Hello Siargao is a big fan of local businesses, and we try to promote them in almost all of the content that we put out. So when we came across a local business featuring local artists, we just had to say something about it.
Gwapitos is not only a true local business by locals, they also form a large part of the community here on the island. This is a post from their Instagram where they got to interview one of Cebu's most talented artists in the tattoo industry, Boots Brandon.

Craving a burger? The island's got you covered! A big juicy piece of meat in between buns are always a great sight, and there isn't a shortage of it in Siargao.

Instead of the usual Burger King and Mcdonald's, the options in Siargao are a little more hearty, and not to mention authentic (none of that fast food mass produced mumbo jumbo!). Check out ReefCut for their variety (vegan option here!), CFC for some chicken sandwiches, and my personal favorite: Barrel to satisfy that good ol' burger craving.
