A place you should not miss in Banaue...
Welcome to Cambulo, one of the oldest must-see villages in Banaue. Located 20 kms. Northeast of Banaue main town. Here you will see old stone walled terraces-genuine heritage remnants of the past.
And welcome to Cambulo Country Cabin, the oldest structure of its kind in the village built in 1958 and now a homestay lodge-with much of a country native appeal, a heritage in itself.
***HOW TO GET THERE***
>The first 12 Kms from Banaue main town to Cambulo road saddle point is accessible by tricycle, the remaining 8 Kms. is best taken by foot through a winding rough forest road. Midway before reaching the main village, you will arrive at the Cambulo best view point. One a clear day, you will able to see the peak of Mt. Amuyao, one of the country's highest mountains and the breath taking view of the village to appreciate. Estimated hiking time is 2 hours.
**The other route passing through P**a is a hard trail and does allow you to see the village at its best. Hiking time for this route is 7 hours.
>There is a village jeep that usually leave Banaue main town at 2 O'clock in the afternoon. Guests has the option to take this ride together with the villagers. (The jeep may also be loaded with villagers' produce and groceries). It usually arrive in the village late in the afternoon.
>Cambulo Country Cabin is just 20 meters above the prominent yellow church in the middle of the village right at the center and lower part of the entire village as seen from the best view point along the road.
>Light packing is recommended, bring light warm clothes enough for your stay, long pants recommended for hiking, hiking shoes, insect repellants, rain coat(optional), flashlight and other toiletries. Snacks and drinks for your hike. Leave big luggage in Banaue main town, you could deposit them in any lodge of your choice.
