We had the pleasure of welcoming Ma’am Yugie Blancaflor Atwood, cousin of Mayor Jerry Treñas, along with her daughter and granddaughter, who embarked on a heartfelt journey to reconnect with their Iloilo roots. For the first time, they set foot in the land of their ancestors, tracing family ties and immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the city and province.

🗓 February 8, 2025 – Their adventure began with a countryside tour, where they marveled at the magnificent old churches of southern Iloilo—timeless landmarks that stand as testaments to faith, tradition, and history.

🗓 February 10, 2025 – They delved deeper into Iloilo’s rich past, discovering the city's beautiful heritage houses, museums, and cultural sites while indulging in the province’s renowned cuisine.

Accompanied by our CMO Tour Guide, Anthony Macoy, they not only explored historic landmarks but also embraced the stories and legacy of their ancestral home.

We are delighted to host the Te Amoriangi-Talohi-Ruapotaka Marae from Auckland, New Zealand, as guest performers at various events in Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2025. The delegation, composed of Maori youth performers and tribe members, eagerly embraced the opportunity to learn about our culture and heritage while immersing themselves in the festival activities.

Ateneo College Batch ’78, classmates and batchmates of the esteemed Mayor Jerry Treñas, joined the vibrant Dinagyang Festival 2025 to celebrate an incredible 47 years of friendship, camaraderie, and cherished memories. Accompanied by our CMO Tour Guide, Anthony Macoy their journey was smooth, meaningful, and truly unforgettable. 🌟

As part of their milestone reunion, the group embarked on an extraordinary adventure through Iloilo’s beauty and culture.

Day one: They immersed themselves in an enriching Iloilo City Heritage Tour, discovering the city’s historic landmarks, fascinating museums, treasured heritage sites, and the rich culture that makes Iloilo the City of Love. 🌆✨

Day two: A gastronomic adventure awaited them as they indulged in a delightful food tour, savoring Iloilo’s finest culinary treasures that earned the city its prestigious title as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, joined by Mr. Jorry Palada, a passionate Culture Advocate and Food Blogger. 🍴

The festivities continued with a magical Friday evening, as they were captivated by the dazzling Ilomination, a spectacular showcase of lights and artistry that illuminated the vibrant streets of Iloilo.

Saturday: They celebrated Iloilo’s colorful traditions during the Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan Festival, an event that beautifully showcased the province’s diverse cultural tapestry.

Sunday: Their journey culminated with the breathtaking Dinagyang Ati Tribe Competition, a grand and vibrant display of Iloilo’s devotion to Sr. Sto. Niño and its deeply rooted cultural heritage. 🎶🥁

A special thank you to Ma’am Marissa Luisa Segovia for thoughtfully organizing this unforgettable reunion for her Ateneo Batch ’78 classmates, and to Ma’am Matty Trenas for her invaluable support. We also extend our gratitude to Mayor Jerry Treñas for the warm welcome extended to the group. 💙
