Begonia lanuzaensis
𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗨𝗠
A new species of 𝐵𝑒𝑔𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑎 was described by a group of scientists from Surigao Del Sur University, University of Sto. Tomas and University of the Philippines - Manila.
It was described from Lanuza, Surigao Del Sur. 𝐵𝑒𝑔𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑎 𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑢𝑧𝑎𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑠 was proposed to be classified as 'Vulnerable' because it is quite uncommon in the type locality and human activities are present in adjacent areas.
This is the one of the new plant species described this month. A new tree species, 𝑇𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑜𝑝𝑠𝑖𝑠 𝑓𝑙𝑒𝑥𝑢𝑜𝑠𝑎 Fernando & Wilson, was described from Dinagat Island. A new myrsin species, 𝐴𝑟𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑎 𝑘𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑚𝑏𝑎ℎ𝑖𝑛 Magtoto, was also described.
