UPDATE: 2.3-KM DAVAO CITY BYPASS ROAD TUNNEL NEARS 80% COMPLETION

The Unified Project Management Office - Roads Management Cluster 1 (UPMO-RMC I), alongside the joint venture contractor, Shimizu-Ulticon-Takenaka, has achieved approximately 80% completion in tunnel excavation, with concurrent concrete lining and waterproofing underway for the north and south portals.
Package 1-1 of the 45.5 KM Davao City Bypass Road, totaling 10.7 kilometers and valued at Php 13.23 billion, includes the landmark 2.3-kilometer tunnel, soon to be hailed as the 'Philippines' Longest Tunnel' upon its completion. This tunnel marks a historic milestone as the country's first infrastructure project featuring a long-distance mountain tunnel, surpassing the halfway mark of construction.
The project's primary objective is to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce travel time across Davao City, aiming to slash the current 1-hour and 45-minute journey to just 49 minutes via the Maharlika Highway.

On Thursday, a senior official from the flying taxi company Archer Aviation outlined how the service would function in the country. Khaleej Times recently indicated that a ride within Dubai could cost around Dh350 for a journey between two points in the city.
