AFP highlights accomplishments for PBBM’s 1st 100 days
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines highlights its accomplishments in its various campaigns and ongoing programs that contributed to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s first 100 days in office.
These accomplishments include gains in internal peace and security operations, external defense, modernization and capability development, and international bilateral and multi-lateral engagements.
For internal security and stability, the AFP dismantled five (5) guerilla fronts, neutralized 310 members of the communist terrorist group (CTG), and recovered 300 fi****ms. The AFP also recorded 58 neutralized members of the local terrorist group (LTG) and gained 54 fi****ms.
On peace process, the AFP participated in the successful oath-taking of new members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority, which included representatives from both the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (M**F) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).
The AFP assisted the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace (OPAPRU), Reconciliation, and Unity in the ongoing decommissioning of M**F personnel and fi****ms, resulting in decommissioning of 19,345 M**F combatants and the collection of 2,450 fi****ms as part of the Normalization process with the peace-inclined group.
For external defense, the AFP conducted a total of 77 maritime and 44 air patrols. These, along with the utilization of existing maritime and air domain awareness platforms, resulted in the detection of 32,273 vessels passing through Philippine waters.
For the ongoing AFP modernization program, a total of 50 projects were completed for Horizons 1 and 2, with 85 projects remaining under RA 10349.
On international defense and security engagements, the AFP participated in 25 bilateral and three multi-lateral activities with USA, Japan, Singapore, Australia, China, Indonesia, India, Canada, South Korea, and Finland.
AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Bartolome Vicente Bacarro reaffirmed the AFP’s commitment to excellent public service and selfless performance of its duty. “As protector of the people of the state, the AFP shall remain one of the catalysts for unity and progress," he said.
“Anchored on the President's call for unity, the AFP will continue to support the Whole of Nation approach of the government, actively supporting its programs to build secure, resilient, and progressive communities leading towards a bright future for all Filipinos,” Lt. Gen. Bacarro said.///
