Site Visits to Partner Schools Kickstart DOST-PCAARRD and DA BPI-LBNCRDPSC’s AgriYouth and AgriSkills Projects
The AgriYouth and AgriSkills project is gaining progress following successful site visits to partner schools on February 7, 2025. These visits aimed to identify idea locations for several urban gardens to be established within each school, a key component of the initiative.
The project, which stems from the needs assessment conducted last November 8, 2024, addresses key areas for improvement in agricultural education, including enhanced gardening inputs, practices, and technical support. The assessment highlighted the need for such initiatives to empower students with sustainable practices that contribute to food security and environmental conservation.
During the recent site visits, project team members and school personnel collaborated to evaluate potential garden locations, considering factors like sunlight, water access, soil quality and strategic location to ignite the interest of students, teachers, parents and visitors in the school. The enthusiastic support from the partner schools signals a strong commitment to the project's success.
With site assessments complete, the project team will develop detailed garden layout and activity plans. This step follows the initial needs assessment and shows the project's dedication to improving agricultural education and fostering sustainable practices. The successful site visits represent a significant milestone, paving the way for thriving school gardens that will benefit students and the community.
