Bambanti Festival: Isabela’s Grand Celebration of Scarecrows, Arts and Culture, Beauty and Unity!

Bambanti, an Ilocano term meaning "scarecrows," refers to stick figures traditionally placed in fields to protect growing rice and corn crops from birds, animals, and other threats. It symbolizes the Isabela farmer's hard work, determination, and commitment to providing for their family and contributing to their community's food supply.

The festival was institutionalized on March 14, 1997, and in 2011 it was organized as an independent event that would take place in January each year.

The highlights of the festival include a Thanksgiving Mass, Giant Bambanti and Agri-Ecotourism Booth Contest, Street Dance Parade and Showdown Competition, Festival King and Queen, Queen Isabela Pageant, and Makan Ken Mainum ti Isabela.

Come to Isabela and fall in love with the festivities!

Hala bira, Iloilo! 🎉

This is the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City during the fourth weekend of January, but ceremonies begin early in the month. Derived from the Hiligaynon word "dagyang," meaning "merrymaking," it's one of the grandest festivals in the Philippines, attended by thousands of tourists.

Dinagyang Festival started in 1968 when an image of the Sto. Niño was brought to the San Jose Parish, which was then paraded through the streets. Today, the festival is admired for thrilling parades and cultural performances with participants covered in soot and ethnic costumes.

Leading up to the main event, a month-long series of activities takes place. Religious observances, such as the Fluvial and Solemn Foot Procession and the Grand Religious Sadsad, engage devotees of the Sto. Niño. Attracting more to the festival is the 'malambing' nature of the Ilonggos.
