BI PROCESSES OVER 167K DURING HALLOW’S EVE, ALL SAINT’S DAY

PASAY, Philippinesβ€”The Bureau of Immigration (BI) managed 167,538 passengers during the recent Halloween and All Saints’ Day holidays.

The number of travelers showed a 12% increase in international travel compared to least year when the BI processed a total of 149,257 passengers during the same period.

The influx, fueled by the Undas season, brought high passenger volumes to major Philippine airports, especially on October 31 and November 1.

On October 31, BI recorded 41,078 arrivals and 43,341 departures across the country.

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 processed 14,010 arrivals and 15,666 departures, while Terminal 3 saw the highest volume with 19,223 arrivals and 20,495 departures.

On November 1, the BI recorded similar international traffic with 42,858 arrivals and 40,261 departures. NAIA Terminal 1 saw 14,931 arrivals and 13,381 departures, and Terminal 3 handled 19,136 arrivals and 19,431 departures.

ο»Ώ The BI previously reported deploying 58 newly appointed immigration officers across key airports. Additionally, its rapid response and augmentation teams were deployed to provide more manpower during the peak season.

The Bureau also promoted the use of electronic gates at the arrival areas to expedite entry and exit, significantly reducing queuing times for travelers.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado acknowledged the efforts of BI personnel who worked during the holiday season.

β€œOur officers have demonstrated commendable commitment and sacrifice, spending time away from their families to ensure our borders remain secure and to facilitate smooth travel,” he stated. β€œThis reflects our dedication to public service, especially during high-traffic periods.”

The BI continues to update the public on airport conditions through its official social media page, Facebook.com/officialbureauofimmigration, where travelers can check real-time passenger volumes. The Bureau advises travelers to consult these updates and allow extra travel time during peak periods.
