A breathtaking picture of Dan Lior from Banaue rice terraces (Batad village).
The story of the picture and the Instagram account with lots of stunning pictures below...
This is the last photo from the Philippines I am going to post to my Instagram account. It is dedicated to one of the most memorable sights i have ever seen.
It took a 45 minute hike across the silent rice terraces in complete darkness. When i reached the view point, the residents of the 8th wonder of the world were still asleep. Me and my guide, Kelly, were sitting quietly on a bench, waiting for the sun to come up.
It was than that Kelly told me about the spirits that used to walk the dark woods at night, and how he used to see them as a young boy. The "Pinajeng" he called them, you could see them at night. A glowing orb of light, traveling the mountains in places man cannot reach. Protectors of the forest.
He than seemed to turn quite again, he paused for a moment and than said "you don't see them as much anymore, modern life and tourists drove them away from this place." It was one of the most beautiful and saddest stories i have ever heard. The sun did not come up that day, but i am very happy with my photo.
