Passenger Frustrations: Waiting Under the Sun at Boracay Airport
Recently, a passenger aired his frustration on social media regarding the experience at Boracay Airport. In his post, he questioned why passengers are forced to queue outside the airport, exposed to the sun, just to check in for their flights. He wrote:
"Why naman ganito Boracay Airport? Bakit kailangan pumila at mabilad sa labas ng airport para makapag check in sa flight? Bakit kailangan tawagin kapag flight na namin ang next na mag open for check in? Maaga kami para sa flight namin para pumila sa labas?" 🤷🏻‍♂️
The image accompanying his post showed a long line of travelers waiting outside the terminal building, seemingly under less-than-ideal conditions. This sparked concern and conversation about whether the airport’s procedures could be improved, especially considering Boracay’s status as a world-renowned tourist destination.
The Problem
The primary issue seems to be the lack of indoor waiting areas for passengers who arrive early. Instead of being allowed inside the terminal, passengers are required to wait outside until their flight is called for check-in. This has led to discomfort, as travelers are left to stand in line under the hot sun, sometimes for extended periods.
Potential Solutions
There are several ways Boracay Airport could address these concerns:
1. Create a Better Waiting Area: Setting up shaded areas or indoor seating for those waiting to check in could alleviate some of the discomfort caused by heat and long queues.
2. Adjust Check-in Procedures: Allowing passengers to check in earlier, or at least providing an organized queuing system inside the terminal, would streamline the process.
3. Improve Communication: Better signage and clearer communication about the check-in process could help reduce the confusion and frustration passengers currently face.
A Call for Change
As Boracay remains a top tourist destination, it’s crucial for the airport to offer a positive experience from start to finish. Long lines and outdoor waiting areas do not reflect the level of service expected at such a high-traffic hub. Improving the system would not only enhance the travel experience but also prevent complaints like this one from becoming a common sentiment among visitors.
This passenger's post highlights an important issue that needs attention, not just for the sake of convenience but also for the safety and comfort of everyone flying in and out of Boracay.
