Island Trekker Travel and Tours is a travel agency established in March 3, 2016 located in Brgy. Balabag, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan, Philippines. Owned and managed by Mr. Clark Cahilig, a local resident of Boracay Island since 1984.

Way back during his childhood memories, Mr. Clark and his Father (boatman) working together using their own boat for Island Hopping, Scuba Diving, Airport Transfer and Fishing, Until Mr. Clark graduated in High School and decided to continue his studies in college in Iloilo City. That’s the time his father also decided to sell their boat because no one can help him specially there is a typhoon in Boracay it is very hard to transfer the boat in the safest place.

After graduating in College, Mr. Clark started to be active in mountaineering and a solo backpacker to explore the top tourist destinations in the Philippines and Philippine mountains. He also tried to ride his motorbike alone from Boracay to Mindanao via Bacolod-Dumaguete route for almost 21 days to ocular visit all the top tourist spots in Mindanao.

Along his journey in traveling and hiking, lot of travelers/mountaineers asking his contact numbers and facebook account for future reference in Boracay Vacation Trip. Because they knew that Mr. Clark is a Boracaynon, a native of Boracay island. The demand of various number of referrals asking his help/assistance about Boracay Tours and Activities, that’s the time that Mr. Clark decided to put up a travel agency in Boracay Island.

The word “Island” comes from Boracay. It means that a local tour guide living in the Island. Then the word “Trekker” refers to his hobby in mountaineering, to trek, to climb, to hike then combined the name of Island Trekker and registered it in DTI (Department of Trade and Industry).

The logo was originally designed by the owner Mr. Clark and his sister Shela, It was a free hand lettering to avoid imitation of the logo. The logo represents the sunset in the Beach Front of Boracay, The mountain and waves represents the Mt. Madja-as in Culasi, Antique (The highest mountain in the Panay Island where the mountains meet the sea).

The neon green color of our uniform is a favorite color of the Owner, a lucky color for him. In every t-shirt/sando has a personalized name of the guest and it’s not for sale even though there are so many guests wants to buy it. We give it for free if you will join our events tour packages. If the owner did not proceed to finish his study in college, maybe he is the boatman until now of their family owned boat for Island Hopping. And as the owner of a Travel Agency, Mr. Clark is a hands-on tour guide. His experienced in Boracay that exposed in Tour Guiding, he adopted and applied in his travel company how to manage the quality of service. All the crews, boatman, drivers, tour guides and tour coordinators are personally known by him, friends and relatives of the owner to ensure the safety in every tour packages.

The owner and his tour guides also joined in some joiner tours in entirely different places in the Philippine Destinations, and observe them how the locals/ local tour operator handle the tour and then we apply that observations in our own tour packages in Boracay to improve our quality of services.

The owner decided to upgrade his services, he buys the latest travel gadgets to use in travelling and to his tour packages like GoPro action cam, Drone, DSLR cameras, Hammocks and tents that will use for free of charge in every tour packages they have.

And now, because of the demand events of Island Trekker, the owner also offering his tour services in entire Visayas Regions and Mindanao.

The Bajau people are the first tribe in the world to have evolved to adapt to life under the sea. They spend their entire lives living on the sea and searching for food on the ocean floor. They live in temporary stilt houses and on their boats, scattered throughout the seas of Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. They have lived this way for over 1000 years, and their food is entirely dependnt on the surounding seafood. This forces them to work underwater all day to catch shrimp, crab, fish, and squid.

Therefore, the Bajau puncture their eardrums to balance the pressure between the outer ear and middle ear, helping them avoid discomfort when diving deep underwater. However, puncturing the eardrum can also reduce their hearing ability and make them susceptible to ear infections. This is a trade-off that the Bajau must accept in order to live underwater.

What is extremely unusual is that they can dive for over 13 minutes at a depth of 60m below the ocean floor. Why can they do this? It turns out that they have a much larger spleen than normal people. It has the abilty to pump more oxygen into the blood and works no differently than a biological scuba tank. Their spleen has a volume greater than normal people by more than 50 percent.

What is special is that this feature is not only found in divers but also in other members of the tribe, including children who have never dived before. This means that they have evolved to live more easily under the sea."
