Intramuros Rev Walk is not just our regular Intramuros Tour. While the latter is about the evolution of Manila from the pre-colonial Rajah Sulayman's settlement to the modern-day Manila, the former focuses on the uprisings that took place inside the Walled City and how Intramuros played its role during the 1896 Philippine Revolution. The uprisings include the Novales' revolt and the Sangley Uprising in the Parian.

Intramuros is indeed the Spanish Manila, the colonial city, but the trail of strugggle within the walls is still prevailing. The trail can still be traced. It deserves a separate and a focused discussion.

Baluarte de Dilao faces the Novales Street.
The street was named after Andres Novales, the only Filipino Emperor.

Puerta del Parian. This was the focal point of the Sangley Revolt.

Manila was the birthplace of the Katipunan. Yet the valiant society's trace in the capital city seems to have been buried in oblivion.

Join us in Katipunan in Manila and revisit the sites that shaped the Katipunan and the Philippine Revolution in 1896.

Trail of Struggle: Katipunan in Pinaglabanan

Kataas-taasan , Kagalang-galangang na Katipunan ng mga Anak Ng Bayan ( Supreme and Worshipful Society of the Sons of the Nation) or simply Katipunan was founded on July 7,1892.

After a member disclosed its existence to the authorities, Andres Bonifacio, the Supremo, called for the revolution that will eventually lead to our independence in 1898.

The tour takes place in Pinaglabanan, San Juan City where the first major battle of Katipunan took place.

It starts at the San Juan Elementary School, which used to be the site of the El Polvorin.

Then, we will take a stroll along the N. Domingo Street until we reach the Diwa ng 1896 along the Pinaglabanan Street to pay tribute to less known Katipuneros and revolutionaries.

Our next stop will be Museo ng Katipunan.
This is where we will dispel the myths about the valiant society and its Supremo, Andres Bonifacio.

The tour makes its next station to El Deposito Museum , the old Water Reservoir. We will go underground. Have a sip of the history of Metro Manila's Water system.

Our walk ends at the Battle of Pinaglabanan Monument.

August 25 @ 9am.
