International Travel Bans and Restrictions on Philippine Passport Holders

This Travel Bans and Restrictions Update is prepared in response to queries received by the Department on its social media accounts and to provide guidance to all Filipinos intending to travel to and from the Philippines.

The DFA encourages all Filipinos traveling out from and returning to the Philippines to refer and be initially guided by the following Travel Restrictions imposed by countries across the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Please note that this information is subject to change without prior and sufficient public notice.

Travelers, even with valid visas or confirmed flights, should consult with relevant Embassies or Consulates of the destination country and ports of transit before booking the ticket. It is always best to check ahead of travel dates with the airlines that will be used for departure.

WOW!

ANTABAYANAN ANG BANTAYAN AIRPORT!

Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) General Manager Steve Dicdican inspected the status of the ongoing construction at the Bantayan Airport in Cebu yesterday, 07 August 2020.

The airport is currently undertaking extension and completion of partially concreted runway and putting up of perimeter fence.

"The entire length of the runway is almost fully excavated except for patches of areas with hard rock. One of the segments is completely concreted already. The two (2) other segments will be completed in 2 months time." MCIAA GM Dicdican said

By the end of the year, the airport terminal project will be fully completed, and the 1.2-kilometer runway will be ready for full utilization by December 2020.

"We plan to finish everything by November, so we can have a December inauguration." GM Dicdican added.

JUST IN: Taiwan extends visa-free entry privilege for Filipinos by a year- or until July 31, 2021 - says Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in Manila.

Same extension given to nationals from Thailand, Brunei, and Russia.

Taiwan's entry regulations for foreign nationals meanwhile remain in force amid pandemic. Visa-free grant does "not take precedence" over COVID-19 measures, says TECO. | via Tarra Quismundo, ABS-CBN News

Department of Tourism - Philippines

DOT CELEBRATES AS PALAWAN RECLAIMS BEST ISLAND IN THE WORLD CITATION

The Department of Tourism (DOT) today celebrates the hailing of Palawan as it reclaims the Best Island in the World title by renowned travel publication, Travel + Leisure.

“Palawan reclaimed its rightful place in the World’s Best Awards. The citation as the Best Island in the World is all the more important because this is voted upon by the readers of the prominent Travel + Leisure (T+L) magazine,” said Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

Puyat recently checked the readiness of Palawan, now a four-time winner of the world’s best island award.

Travel + Leisure writer Sara Clemence said, “though it’s difficult to reach from many parts of the world, once travelers get there they can dive in World War II wrecks, explore old-growth rain forests, and paddle one of the world’s longest subterranean rivers at Puerto Princesa”.

“The landscape and scenery are just gorgeous. It offers the most beautiful beaches, resorts, and scenery anywhere,” the travel magazine quoted a fan describing Palawan.

“It’s wonderful to see that our rehabilitation and sustainable development efforts last year, especially in El Nido and Coron, were well-received by tourists everywhere,” added Puyat.

Another popular destination in the Philippines, Boracay, made it to No. 14 in T+L’s World Best Island list and fifth in Asia this year.

This is the third citation reaped by the Philippines since community quarantines were enforced in various parts of the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Forbes magazine earlier ranked the Philippines among the seven countries “that have the potential to become a major tourist destination in a post-COVID world’. Last month, Condé Nast Traveler (CNT) cited the Hidden Beach in El Nido, Palawan, as one of the 30 Best Beaches in the World.

KOREA VISA UPDATE

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea (ROK) in the Philippines informs that the Embassy will no longer issue a visa label for visa applications processed in the Philippines, as of July 1, 2020.

The ROK immigration system does not require visa labels to be affixed to a page in an applicant's passport as the visa status will be checked and verified using the ROK visa information system with the recent technology.

The Embassy will notify applicants of their visa details by issung 'Visa Grant Notice' on the official website at www.visa.go.kr where applicants can print out the document, at any time, by entering personal details such as passport number, date of birth and other relevant information.

The Visa Grant Notice will contain applicants' personal details including name, date of birth, and passport number, as well as visa details including visa issuance number, status of stay, period of stay, number of allowed entries, date of issue, validity of visa, and issuing authority. (Please refer to the attached sample)

All foreigners seeking entry into ROK with valid visa are required to present the VIsa Grant Notice to Korean Immigration authorities in the process of immigration inspection in Korea.

Despite the label-free visa policy, applicants must present and submit a passport for the purpose of document and identity verification.

19/03/2020

May I share this post..and do send a virtual hug to your friends in the travel industry🥰😊

To those who had to cancel travel plans, we empathize with you. We understand that you were looking foward to spending time with family and friends abroad, trying new food, and experiencing different cultures.

Yes, to put it bluntly, it sucks. Holy Week is peak season for the travel industry, but what sucks more is that there is now zero business for those in this industry.

To those demanding a refund from a travel agency, rest assured we are all trying our best to get your money back.

But in this time of COVID-19, I ask for your patience and empathy. Think before you speak. There is no need to yell, no need to swear, no need to threaten your travel agents with law suits. This is the time for class, not crass.

If you can afford a luxury tour out of the country, I am sure it is not the end of the world if you do not receive a refund today.

Again, I urge you to please think about the plight of others before you complain about why your refund is taking so long.

Think about the thousands who do not have jobs in the travel industry at this time:

1. Travel agents who passionately planned your tour, and the reservations staff, visa processors, etc. who did the legwork

2. Bus, ferry, and train drivers who were supposed to safely drive you, and the mechanics who maintain the transportation

3. Tour guides who were excited to explain the beauty of their country to you

4. Chefs, waiters, and waitresses who were supposed to prepare and serve you new cuisine

5. Hotel staff, from the doorman, bell boy/porters, check-in counter, and cleaning staff who were supposed to ensure your comfort

6. Flight attendants, pilots, and all airline/airport crew who were supposed to get you to your destination

7. Entertainers who were supposed to lively sing and dance for your happiness

8. Shop owners who were preparing to practice their bargaining and discount tactics so that you could bring home a luggage full of souvenirs

The list goes on and on.

So again, my only request is for your patience and understanding.

Think before you speak.
Thank you.🙂

We look forward to the day we can travel with you again, hopefully sooner, than later.
