Doris Magsaysay Ho (DHo) Joins Seafarer 2050 Summit as Panelist
In the recently held 2023 International Chamber of Shipping Summit Manila: Shaping the Future of Shipping โ Seafarer 2050 Conference last June 26 at the Conrad Hotel, government ministers, regulators, non-government organizations (NGOs), shipowners, ship managers, charterers, industry leaders, and technology and infrastructure providers were brought together to elaborate on the elements required for a successful transformation of seafarersโ roles to meet the needs of shipping in the future. These include education and training, building capacity and resilience, recruitment and retention of seafarers, as well as ensuring that any transition is safe, equitable and human-centric. Doris Magsaysay Ho (DHo), Magsaysay Group President and CEO, sat in the panel for Retention and Career Development.
Organized by the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and Filipino Shipowners Association (FSA), in partnership with the International Transport Workersโ Federation (ITF) and International Maritime Employersโ Council (IMEC), the event also tackled the risks to shipping and global trade inherent in industry transformation, and the investments and changes needed to be made to ensure that sufficient numbers of skilled seafarers are available in fulfilling the requirements of shipping in 2050.
