FIRST CHESS MUSEUM IN THE PHILIPPINES!

The first chess museum in the country located in Marikina City – THE EUGENE CHESS MUSEUM has been inaugurated and opened to the public.

It was led by Congresswoman Maan Teodoro and Philippine Grand Master Eugene Torre. Councilor Cloyd Casimiro, Marikina City Tourism Officer Poncianito Santos, and couple Jundio and Rosie Salvador, the owner of Pan de Amerikana Restaurant where the chess museum is located.

In portraying GM Torre's excellence in a memorable match, a 10-moves human chess demonstration was conducted at the inauguration with preschool students of Our Lady of Perpetual Succor College.

For half a century, GM Torre has given the Philippines an unforgivable honor in the chess field. He first became a grand master in 1974 and was inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame in 2021.
The Eugene Torre Chess Museum features accolades, medals, trophies and a selection of photographs of GM Torre's battles during his colorful 50-year career in chess.
