A dozen of Tourism groups and associations from Phuket, Phang Nga and Krabi provinces submitted a joint letter to PM Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha on Friday urging him to review the latest government order requiring all foreign travellers to Thailand by air to produce a proof that they have received two shots of COVID-19 vaccines starting Sunday until the end of January. The letter says this is causing inconvenience to potential tourists and could discourage them from visiting Thailand. They added that in many countries, COVID-19-related requirements have totally been dismantled. "The private sector has been contacted by many foreign tour operators who have expressed concerns regarding the measure which is adding to travel inconvenience," part of the letter stated.
The measures were imposed by the government to deal with the influx of Chinese tourists after the Chinese government relaxed its COVID-19 travel restrictions starting today.
