MANILA — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Wednesday said a cyberattack on the Department of Science and Technology system has affected around 2 terabytes of data.

DICT spokesperson Aboy Paraiso said the agency is now working with DOST to recover the lost data from the system. Potentially, he said, this is one of the biggest data hacks in terms of scope.

The system of DOST was hacked, the DICT has confirmed, adding that 2TB of data were allegedly affected and cannot be recovered.

The SEC said it will issue a memorandum circular to provide guidelines on the attendance and participation of directors, trustees, stockholders, members and other officers of corporations in regular and special meetings through remote communication, pursuant to Republic Act No. 11232, or the Revised Corporation Code.

PEZA issued Memorandum Circular No. 2020-011 last Friday allowing IT-registered enterprises to implement the work option “without the need for a Letter of Authority (LOA) from PEZA” as prevention and response mechanism to COVID-19.

I.T. enterprises registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) are now allowed to implement work-from-home option without its prior approval.
