The second leg of the Xtreme Triple Trails in Naawan, Misamis Oriental, began yesterday, July 28, 2024. This event was spearheaded and graced by the Governor of the Province of Misamis Oriental, Gov. Peter "Sr. Pedro” Unabia, and the Local Government Unit of Naawan, headed by Mayor Dennis L. Roa together with Vice Mayor Allan B. Roa.

The Xtreme Triple Trails started at Mt. Malindawag Overview, Brgy. Lubilan, Naawan, Misamis Oriental, where runners were greeted with views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The Trail Run featured three category routes (5K, 10K, and 21K) that spread across Naawan’s mountain ranges. Runners face a challenging ascent on the Lubilan Trail, with a 2 km steep climb towards Balition Trail. The race then concluded at Mahanggob Water Park in Brgy. Lubilan, Naawan, Misamis Oriental.

Governor Unabia, department heads of the Provincial Capitol, and employees of the Local Government Units of Naawan, Claveria, and El Salvador City were among the participants in the trail run. Trail runners and enthusiasts from Malaybalay, Bukidnon, Iligan City, and Cagayan de Oro City also joined the said event.

This event aimed to show the beauty of Naawan’s tourist sites and introduce sports tourism to the community while also promoting good health practices. This also satisfies the letter “G” of Governor Unabia’s PAGLAUM Development Agenda, which is Goal-Oriented Tourism Development in the Province of Misamis Oriental.

Congratulations to the Municipality of Naawan, Province of Misamis Oriental for being a recipient of a Certificate of Compliance from the National Commission for Culture and Arts for Civil Year 2024.

This refers to the Local Cultural Inventory (LCI) Submission for C.Y. 2024 last May 16, 2024 in compliance with Article V of Republic Act No. 11961 as the amendment of RA 10066 or the National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009.

Naawan - Wahig Festival Jingle, is a video showcasing the municipality's abundance of water resources. Said festival is celebrated from May 10–15, holds a significant cultural and community-building purpose in the Municipality of Naawan. By incorporating the Higaonon term (Wahig) for "water," it not only highlights the local language and heritage but also suggests a focus on the importance of water in the town's identity, whether it be through its rivers, springs, or other water sources. The Local Government Unit of Naawan, under the leadership of Mayor Dennis L. Roa, strongly promotes the festival as it captures the essence and significance of water in the local culture and environment.

On 23rd day of February 2024, the Local Government Unit of Naawan by the Naawan Tourism Office hosted the 2nd Association of Tourism Officers of Misamis Oriental (ATOM) Annual Monthly Meeting 2024 at La Concepcion Beach Resort, Brgy. Linangkayan, Naawan, Misamis Oriental.

Dignitaries of the event were welcomed by Mayor Dennis L. Roa and Vice-Mayor Allan B. Roa. Among the attendees were the Provincial Tourism Office, headed by Misamis Oriental Provincial Tourism Officer Atty. Jeffrey C. Saclot; the President of ATOM INC., Mr. Edan Mark T. Vosotros; the Vice-President, Ms. Esther Shiela Monreal; and all the Tourism Officers and staff from the 23 municipalities and 2 component cities of the province.

Discussions at the gathering revolved around the formulation and recalibration of the Provincial Tourism Development Plan (PTDP), which outlines all the Tourism Investment Projects and the updated Cultural Property Inventory for each city and municipality in Misamis Oriental. This endeavour is centered towards the development of a brighter and bigger future for the tourism industry of Misamis Oriental. The meeting was then proceeded by a quick tour of the newly minted Naawan Town Hall.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Provincial Tourism Office, to Atty. Jeffrey C. Saclot and all the Tourism Officers from the various municipalities and cities of Misamis Oriental who took part in this important gathering. Your dedication and active participation made the meeting truly impactful. Here's to continued teamwork, progress, and exciting opportunities ahead.

The blessing and inauguration ceremony of the New Naawan Town Hall was successfully held this morning in the presence of the honored guest, Congressman Erwin Tulfo. This significant occasion was also celebrated with Congressman Bambi Emano, Governor Peter "Sr. Pedro" M. Unabia, and Hon. Maria Belen S. Acosta, the Chairperson of the Mindanao Development Authority and Philippine Signing Minister for BIMP EAGA, Regional Director Ramel F. Jamen of DSWD Region 10, other regional and provincial directors from the various offices, provincial and local elected officials, MSU-Naawan dignitaries, District of Naawan school heads, several religious leaders from different religious sectors, LGU Naawan employees, barangay officials and functionaries, and other stakeholders. As part of the activity, the new town hall has been officially turned over from Jejors Construction Corporation represented by Engr. Jordan L. Tiu (President) to the Local Government Unit.

During the event, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between the Local Government Unit of Naawan and DSWD Regional Field Office 10 was also held, as the new town hall has a DSWD regional satellite office wherein clients who want to avail of social services from Laguindingan to Lugait may now be catered to by the municipality through the satellite office.

Mayor Dennis L. Roa is grateful to everyone who, in one way or another, has imparted their efforts to witness and become part of this significant occasion in the history of the municipality of Naawan. The esteemed presence of Congressman Erwin Tulfo and other distinguished guests and all individuals from the different offices, both national and local, have shown their support in all the endeavors that the Local Government Unit will undertake in continuously serving the public. Indeed, the unity and support from various offices reflect a strong commitment to serving the community, and it also signifies growth, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the betterment of Naawan.
