On December 20, 2024, Barangay Malipayon marked its 39𝘵𝘩 𝘈𝘳𝘢𝘸 𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘺 with the eagerly awaited 𝘓𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘯 𝘍𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭. This event was a triumph, uniting the community in a vibrant celebration of tradition, unity, and culinary excellence.

The day's highlight was the parade of 21 lechons, each artfully presented on floats. These delectable creations were judged on their crispiness, presentation, and juiciness at the barangay covered court. Following the judging, both residents and visitors were invited to partake in the feast, fostering a memorable communal dining experience.

After the sumptuous luncheon, awards were presented to winners and participants for their outstanding contributions. The Purok Center Beautification contest also took center stage, showcasing the creativity and dedication of community members. Ms. Lea M. Apal, the Municipal Tourism Officer of LGU Pangantucan and Chairman of the Board of Judges, announced the winners alongside judges from the tourism council, private sector, and the Municipal Accounting Office, led by Mr. Kenny Lloyd J. Valiente, CPA.

Ms. Apal commended the Barangay Council of Malipayon, Purok leaders, and community members for their dedication to promoting their traditions. She expressed hope that more leaders will support this cultural and tourism initiative through an ordinance and additional funding. She also mentioned that with the barangay's collaborative efforts, they could pass a resolution to request financial support from the Department of Tourism, which she would endorse to the national government for budget augmentation.

Barangay Kagawad Hon. Sam Inocencio proudly highlighted the unique spirit of Barangay Malipayon, together with the barangay council, emphasizing the leaders' compassion and dedication to service.

The event was honored by the presence of Municipal Officials, including Municipal Vice Mayor Manolito G. Garces, who praised the community for their resilience and love for their barangay, despite the challenges they faced.

Congratulations to Barangay Malipayon led by Punong Barangay William H. Frias on a successful celebration! We salute your spirit and eagerly anticipate an even more exciting 40th celebration next year. See you there!

On December 20, 2024, the 𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘨 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 gathered to celebrate the 𝘓𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯ë𝘯 Ritual, an annual tradition cherished by those living at the foot of Mt. Kalatungan and Mt. Kilakiron. This sacred ritual is a heartfelt expression of gratitude and reverence to the 𝘈𝘱𝘶 (ancestors), 𝘈𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘵é𝘯 (fairies/spirits), and 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘺𝘢 (God) for the gift of water, a vital source of life.

The 𝘓𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯ë𝘯 Ritual, a practice passed down through generations, holds deep significance for the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community of Barangay Portulin. Celebrated every December 19th to 20th at 𝘛𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘏𝘢 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘰, the ritual is led by the 𝘎𝘪𝘯𝘭𝘢𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘯 (Council of Elders), 𝘉𝘢𝘺𝘭𝘢𝘯, and 𝘋𝘢𝘵𝘶 (Tribal Chieftain).

This cultural event underscores the community's profound connection to the forest, regarded as the source of life. It serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving and honoring their natural surroundings and cultural heritage.

Representatives from the Municipal Tourism Office of the Local Government Unit of Pangantucan attended the event, highlighting its significance as part of the tourism program aimed at supporting the conservation of indigenous traditions and cultural heritage of the Indigenous Peoples of Pangantucan, Bukidnon.

The 𝘓𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯ë𝘯 Ritual is not just a celebration; it is a testament to the enduring spirit and rich cultural tapestry of the 𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘨 community.
