VİCTORİA. Here she is. The face behind Victoria’s Suite. She is my mother and the inspiration behind this condo property.

She was a mother of seven children. She was a strong household figure and a genuine example of what hard work and tenacity is.

Life was tough while I was growing up. I saw how she and my father moved from one place to another, cultivating varied root crops and vegetables to sustain the needs of the family.

She was an all-around woman. While farming was her forte, she, too, was a hairdresser (she did my haircuts and my curls when I was a kid), neighborhood ‘hilot’, ‘komadrona’, vegetable seller (she grew vegetables in our backyard and sold it around the neighborhood). She was ‘mamingkahay’ and her ‘suman’ was the best.

She was ‘Inday Toria’ among her siblings and relatives. She was ‘Manang Toria’ among the neighbors, ‘Lola Toria’ among her grand children and others. She is to us, her 7 children, Mama Toria.

Truth is, she did not live to see the fruition of this condo property. The turn over of this unit was 1 year late. I still wonder up to now what could have her exact words seeing how small the place and knowing how much I’ve paid for it.

This property is dedicated to her. This is a son’s tribute to her mother who is the anchor to his vessel loaded with many aspirations and dreams.

She is my mother, Victoria - the face behind Victoria's Suite.

These were taken during her 75th birthday celebration here in Thailand on March 6, 2017. She passed away a year after on March 12, 2018.
