SOUTH KOREA SOON? 🇰🇷

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea announced on Tuesday that the Korean Government will allow visa-free entry to Jeju Island and Yangyang starting June 1, 2022.

“The Korean Embassy hopes that the visa-free entry will promote people-to-people exchanges between Korea and the Philippines via tourism,” the embassy wrote on a Facebook post.

For Jeju, Filipino tourists are allowed to enter the island through direct flights, allowing them to stay up to 30 days.

According to the embassy, some airlines are reportedly planning to schedule direct flights from the Philippines to Jeju soon. However, tourists are not allowed to travel to other regions outside Jeju.

For Yangyang on the other hand, Filipino tourists are required to book a group tour through a designated travel agency, and they are permitted to stay up to 15 days around the cities in Gangwon Province and Seoul Metropolitan Area only.

Filipino tourists are also advised to travel back to the Philippines via the Yangyang International airport.

Boracay Travel Advisory

Effective October 1, 2020, the island resort of Boracay may accept tourists coming from areas with General Community Quarantine classification or lower. This is apart from travelers coming from Western Visayas.

A ‘Test-before-travel’ policy is required from all travelers to the island resort which will be strictly implemented. Travelers undergoing the test prior to travel should follow strict quarantine procedures until the date of travel to the island.

At the same time, age restrictions shall be relaxed but restrictions to persons with co-morbidities remains to be strictly enforced.

All airlines are advised to land and takeoff at the Godofredo R. Ramos Airport in Caticlan.

The government is considering to resume operations of some tourist spots in Palawan, months after being shut due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat is confering with local heads from El Nido, Coron, and San Vicente, Palawan as they declare tourism revenue losses of around P3.1 billion due to health crisis the country is facing.

About 14,000 workers are also heavily impacted by the pandemic.

Puyat mentioned that they would focus on a 'slow but sure' resume in Palawan tourism.

The secretary said, "We want to restart tourism in Palawan but we want it slow but sure. Talks underway for limited domestic tourism and a 'dry run' in El Nido resorts, Coron and San Vicente open to restarting tourism but LGU (local government) will still consult with constituents first."

Palawan Governor Jose Alvarez agreed to Puyat's proposal on health and safety and measures before resuming for tourism.

“Tourism in Palawan is necessary in order to survive but mass tourism will not be allowed,” Governor said.

Palawan is currently classified under modified general community quarantine.

This proposal came after the reopening of Boracay for locals from Western Visayas last June 16 as most parts of the country have been shifted to looser quarantine classification to re-establish the economy.

DOT is also coversing with Bohol executives regarding domestic tourism at a reduced capacity in the province.

However, Bohol Governor Arthur Yap would like first to ensure enough reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) machines for coronavirus testing.
