With funding from the Republic of Korea, the AHA Centre is implementing the ASCEND Programme in collaboration with the Korean National Fire Agency (KNFA). Launched in 2020, ASCEND has made significant strides in establishing technical and institutional frameworks.

Last January 7, we welcomed delegates from the 10 ASEAN Countries for the ASCEND Reference Group (ARG) Workshop that took place at Novotel Hotel which included NDMOs, NGOs, private sectors, and academia. The workshop commenced with a welcome message from Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito R. Alejandro IV of the Office of Civil Defense.

Project Coordinator Mr. Andrew Mardanugraha emphasized that after four years, ASCEND is evolving into ASEAN's regional recognition system for disaster management professionals. He thanked the Office of Civil Defense and the Republic of Korea for their continued support.

Delegates were divided into three groups, facilitated by Dr. Marqueza Reyes and Mr. Dhanang Djatmiko (Group 1), Mr. Martin Aguilar and Ms. Excel Botigan (Group 2), and Mr. Andrew Subakti and Ms. Febi Rachmadewi (Group 3).

With the AMS well-represented by representatives from National Disaster Management Offices (NDMOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private entities, and academia, the inputs were highly insightful and fostered significant engagement among stakeholders.

Last night, we discovered how serving God through our work reflects His love and sets a standard for excellence in business and that our efforts should honor the Lord, showcasing our commitment to quality and integrity.
