AAP Travel was established to serve the travel needs of AAP members in particular and the motoring public in general. Aiming to provide AAP members a quick online roadmap to key tourist destinations in the country, AAP Travel developed a website and started organizing caravans. In 2012, AAP Travel became a full-fledged travel agency and started to use the tradename AAP Travel. Caravan is defined a
s a drive tourism program wherein instead of driving straight to the destination it moves through a tourism highway or road network that allows participants to see many attractions in between the start and end destinations. Moreover, caravans are organized according to themes (examples: heritage and culture, outdoor adventure, handicrafts, culinary arts, etc.) Its objective is to promote domestic tourism by utilizing own vehicle. It also teaches the importance of road safety and environmental protection. Over the last five years, AAP Travel organized caravans to Ifugao, Zambales, Pampanga, Quezon, Laguna, Mindoro, Rizal, Subic, Negros Occidental, Bulacan, Cavite and Batanes which was published in AQ Magazine, AAP’s quarterly magazine, Philippine Daily Inquirer Supplement and in other major publications. Regular participants travel all the way from La Union, Zamboanga and Texas, USA to enjoy exploring the country together with family and friends. Ambassadors from Vietnam, Greece, Malaysia, Brunei, South Africa, Pakistan and Turkey have joined the caravans because they feel comfortable and secure while they are immersed in Philippine heritage, arts and culture. They were also very pleased to experience how to be welcomed and serenaded by the different communities and feel like one of the locals by engaging in community activities and by tasting the local foods.
