Banal na Awa - Gawaing Awa, Inc. aims to offer a creative space to help the lives of persons with disabilities to empower them and be integrated to society and put them in equal footing with their abled counterparts.
Our mission is to use music as a medium to promote and encourage people to understand PWDs and accept them and respect their rights.
Our news is based on the works of our director, Celeste S. Sanchez, a music therapist in the Philippines. It's about her seminar/workshops and her Music therapy sessions with Persons with Disabilities at the Divine Mercy Mobile Center of Music and Arts Therapy for Special Children, Adults and Seniors. She has reached out to individuals with autism, down syndrome, visually-impaired, speech impaired, tone deaf, cerebral palsied, mentally challenged, multihandicapped, paraplegic, stroke survivors and senior citizens to express themselves through Music Therapy.
Realizing the power of music in improving their situation, seeing their confidence surface, the joy and enthusiasm during sessions and a positive outlook in life, it is the organization's aim to educate, rehabilitate and develop persons with special needs and give them venue for self-expression through Music Therapy and Arts therapy. Thus, the organization has put up recitals to hone their hidden talents since 1995. These recitals entitled "A Recital by the Enabled" have always been able to showcase their talents and the therapeutic value of Music Therapy.
