More flights to Basco by July 24; Daily flights by August

To our valued passengers:

We are pleased to offer more flights between Manila and Basco (Batanes) beginning July 24, 2022.

From July 24, a new Sunday frequency will bring PAL's Manila-Basco-Manila services to four flights weekly every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Full schedule below:

PR 2932 Manila-Basco – departing at 06:00 AM, arriving at 07:45 AM

PR 2933 Basco-Manila – departing at 08:15 AM, arriving at 10:00 AM

From August 2, our Manila-Basco-Manila services will increase to seven weekly flights, giving you convenient morning departures every day of the week. The departure and arrival times are the same as stated above.

We highly encourage you to periodically check the provincial government website of their arrival point, as well as www.philippineairlines.com for the latest travel updates, alert levels and other important information.

Starting July 1, airfares will increase as fuel prices continue to rise.

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has recently issued a resolution raising the fuel surcharge bracket to 11 for the month of July from June’s level 7.

Local airlines in the Philippines filed applications to impose higher fuel surcharges to cover their increasing fuel expenses.

Fuel surcharges are additional fees collected by airlines to help them recover fuel costs, Inquirer explained. These are separate from the base fare, which is the actual amount paid by the passenger for a seat.

Starting July 1, airlines in the Philippines are allowed to collect fuel charges ranging from P355 to P1,038 per passenger for domestic flights and P1,172.07 to P8,714.84 for international flights.

Under Level 11, flights from the Philippines to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia and Brunei will have a fuel surcharge of P1,172.07. Those going to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Guam should be ready to pay an additional P1,620.99, while the applicable surcharge for flights to North America, United Kingdom and the Netherlands amount to P8,299.85.

PAL 20 kg Free Baggage Allowance

Higher Free Baggage Allowance (20kg) on domestic turboprop flights starting June 15

Good news for our passengers:

Effective from June 15, 2022, all PAL domestic flights utilizing the De Havilland Dash-8 turboprop aircraft (except flights to and from Basco, Batanes) will offer up to 20kg Free Baggage Allowance (FBA) for Economy Value and Economy Flex passengers – a 100% increase from the previous maximum FBA of 10kg that has been in effect for several years.

The increased baggage allowance will allow more flexibility and convenience for domestic travelers, as well as result in a uniform standard for PAL domestic flights whether operated with jet or turboprop aircraft.

Passengers holding old and new tickets issued for travel on or after June 15 will be allowed to check-in up to 20kg on the applicable booking classes (Economy Value and Economy Flex).

The new FBA will apply to PAL’s turboprop flights from our Manila, Cebu, Davao and General Santos hubs, including flights to Butuan, Cotabato, Catarman, Calbayog, Dumaguete, Antique, Siargao, Legazpi, Caticlan (Boracay), Busuanga (Coron), Iloilo, Tagbilaran (Panglao), Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Clark, Davao, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban and Zamboanga.

However, we will retain the current maximum FBA of 10kg for flights to and from Basco (BSO), because of unique route operational conditions that limit the baggage capacity on these flights.

The baggage rules for other fare types will remain unchanged: FBA of 30 Kg for Business Value; 35 kg for Business Flex; 10 Kg for Economy Saver (flying on either jet or turboprop aircraft); and no FBA for Economy Supersaver.
