Today, the earth shook for what felt like a 7.1 magnitude earthquake in 79km SSE of Laoag, Philippines and 20km NE of San Ramon, Philippines. It shook us to our core and has even reminded others of the tragic 1991 earthquake.

We hope you are well. We've all practiced for times like this (hello, Endless Earthquake Drills 😀). Let's keep calm and deal with things level-headed. Take Care po!

Local transmission of Covid-19 confirmed in Philippines, tally rises to 6

Local transmission tally rises to 6 as of this article's publication.

If you must know, Local Transmission means those 6 people got the COVID-19 virus right here in the Philippines without necessarily contracting it from abroad or people who came from abroad. It means COVID-19 may have also been present here in the Philippines and is only now coming into light. These are all speculations though, and we shall await what the authorities say on what could really be the case. Authorities here being DOH and WHO.

ATTENTION

Executive Order NO. 10-2020

With the joint discussions of the Sagada Stakeholders, Local Government Unit, Rural Health Unit and the Department of Health:

Sagada is now Lifting its suspension on all Eco-Tourism Activities except for Spelunking and Sunrise Viewing Activities.

Points to Remember:
1) All Tours Can only start at 7 Am. No sunrise viewing at any sunrise viewpoints including Ampanga Heights. This is to discourage crowd gathering activities during the early hours when the temperature is very cold. However, visitors can still trek to Marlboro Hills and other sites at or after 7 Am.

2) Visitors are required to undergo assessment as advised by the DOH when they arrive in Sagada. Assessment will be done when registering at the Tourist Information Center, when checking in at accommodations and before tours start. Assessment before the tour will be done by the respective tour guide.

3) Opening of Sites were only done after the protocols of the DOH were satisfied. Hence, explaining the still CLOSURES of Spelunking where-in bodily contacts are required during the tour. It is also advised that cold areas can propagate viruses thus discouraging the sunrise viewing activities.

4) Innkeepers/Owners/Private Esatblishments, Tour Guides and Shuttle Drivers should take the initiative to ask their presidents/representatives for their respective protocols and penalties.

We ask everyone to please do their own part in keeping our Municipality and Country safe from the virus. Please read all advisories from the DOH website for the preventive measures regarding the virus issue.

Hi there Buddies!

In the midst of all the panic and stress and whatnot due to nCoV, prioritize strengthening your immune system and practice good hygiene. Wear masks only when you need to and avoid touching your face when out in public and coming into contact with unclean surfaces. Wash or sanitize your hands before eating or touching your eyes, nose, mouth, wounds, etc.

No amount of antibiotics will save you from a virus because bacteria and viruses are just not the same. And while we have antivirals, we do not know yet which one (or which ones, for that matter ) works against nCoV. For your information, it is vaccines and not necessarily antivirals that have long been our best friend in our fight against viral infections. (Do note that we do not have nCoV vaccine yet.) For the most part, treating viral diseases consists of supportive and symptomatic treatment like in flu or dengue. This means that we treat just the symptoms but not the root cause of the problem, our body's immune system is what effectively deals with the viruses. (Such that BioFlu does not kill your flu virus, it just lowers your fever and eases your pain.)
