VIGAN CITY, ILOCOS SUR - MAKIPAGRAGSAK! as the Department of Tourism Region 1, represented by Director Evangeline Dadat graces the Ilocos Sur Festival Street Dance Competition and Showdown as the Chairperson of the Board of Judges.

Tonight, the contigents from the participating cities and municipalities of the province will show-off their dancing skills as they battle against each other through a dance showdown at the Quirino Stadium at 7PM.

The Ilocos Sur Festival runs until February 14, 2025. Visit the Trade Fair and Food Bazaar along Quezon Avenue and beside the Ilocos Sur Provincial Farmers Livelihood Center.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝟭 - 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗗𝗢𝗧 𝗥𝟭-𝗧𝗗𝗗), in collaboration with the 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗢𝗧𝗗𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗠), held a 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 from 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟴-𝟯𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, at the PSU Golden Lion Hotel in Lingayen, Pangasinan. Requested by the Provincial Government of Pangasinan and the Municipality of San Juan, La Union, the workshop focused on refining their respective local tourism plans by integrating regional and national tourism priorities, ensuring alignment with their local visions. Beyond progress monitoring, the event emphasized substantive improvements to tourism plan content.

The three-day workshop included initial assessments of the LGUs' draft plans, followed by lectures and practical exercises led by Ramil Basuel, Chief Tourism Operations Officer, and Jeff Nobleza, Tourism Operations Officer II, both of the OTDPRIM - Tourism Development Planning Division. Facilitation was provided by Loryna Fonacier, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer, and Edil Littaua Jr., Senior Tourism Operations Officer, of the DOT R1 - Tourism Development Division. Warner Andrada, Director of DOT-OTDPRIM, and Martin Valera, former DOT Region 1 Director, also contributed their expertise as tourism planning coaches and mentors, guiding the LGUs during the exercises and supporting ongoing plan development through finalization. DOT Regional Office 1 remains committed to providing technical assistance in tourism development planning, recognizing its crucial role in local economic growth strategies for LGUs.

𝗗𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘁, organized the Recognition Program for the Ilocos and Pangasinan Region National Nominees for the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 (𝗣𝗧𝗔) on February 6, 2025 at J&V Hotel and Resort, City of San Fernando, La Union. This prestigious event honored the outstanding contributions of various individuals and organizations to the region's tourism sector.

𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀’ 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿 made its historic maiden call at 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁, 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗼𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲, bringing 𝟯𝟰𝟳 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟮𝟴𝟱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘄 to the shores of Northern Luzon.

To commemorate this milestone visit, Captain Giovanni Mazella led a plaque exchange ceremony with officials from the Department of Tourism Region 1, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, LGU Currimao, and the Philippine Ports Authority. This symbolic event underscored the growing importance of Currimao Port as an emerging gateway for international cruise tourism.

Guests aboard the Silver Whisper experienced the best of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur through exclusive shore excursions (Shorex) to Vigan City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; Laoag City, the vibrant provincial capital; and Paoay, home to the iconic Paoay Church. These excursions provided passengers with an immersive exploration of the region’s rich history, cultural heritage, and breathtaking landscapes.

The successful maiden call of the Silver Whisper at Currimao Port highlights the region’s rising potential as a premier cruise destination, paving the way for increased international arrivals and further boosting local tourism and economic opportunities.

This luxury cruise, renowned for its elegance and world-class service, set sail from Hong Kong on January 21, with stops at Keelung (Jan 23), Kaohsiung (Jan 24), Manila (Jan 26-27), and Coron, Busuanga Island (Jan 28) before arriving at Currimao on January 30, 2025. Following this visit, the ship will continue its voyage back to Hong Kong, completing its carefully curated journey through Asia’s most captivating destinations.

The ceremony celebrated the exceptional talents of surfers from the Asia Region and highlighted La Union's status as a premier destination for world-class surfing competitions.

Congratulations to all the incredible athletes whose performances made this event an unforgettable success! Your achievements continue to inspire and elevate the sport to new heights.
