Recap video of the Art workshop in Ticao Island sponsored by Museo de Ticao.
An experience of a lifetime.
On a sunny Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 8:30 in the morning, the second art workshop of Museo de Ticao took place at the residence of Mayor Francisco "Doc Kito" Altarejos on Bailon Street, San Jacinto, Ticao Island, Masbate. Titled “Basic Acrylic Painting,” the workshop was conducted by Gina Almocera-Dejumo, a self-taught Tigaonon visual artist with a decade of experience in acrylic, oil, and mixed-media painting. She was supported by co-artists Christian Almodiel, Ronnie Barrun, Camille Nunez, Dolly Angelica Cantonjos, Jhon Dublin Alcantara along with impromptu assistance from Mark Espenilla.
The workshop was attended by thirty-two participants between the ages of eight and twelve: one from Batuan, three from San Fernando, and twenty-eight from San Jacinto. The event lasted three hours, with the presence of twin brothers and a participant from Barangay Almine adding a special touch to the gathering.
The workshop began with opening remarks from Noe Esparrago, who then introduced the art instructor. Following this, Eda Espinosa led a prayer. Gina proceeded to the first part of the workshop, titled the “Ultimate Crash Course,” which introduced some of history’s most famous artists, presented a “Starter Pack” of essential painting materials, and demonstrated their use. The participants were excited and fully engaged, listening attentively throughout the discussion.
The second part was the actual painting session, which brought mixed emotions to the participants. Some felt nervous yet thrilled, while others were filled with excitement as they mixed colors and interacted with their fellow participants. Their confidence grew as Jhon Dublin, Christian, Ronnie, Dolly, and Camille offered continuous support, ensuring that participants received guidance on painting techniques in the friendliest way possible. Meanwhile, Jeckris Ora-a, Shiela Cantoria, Lex
At the Museo de Ticao, we love listening to our guests' stories 💙✨
Meeting Ms. Rosa Eugenio today was a true honor. Through her stories of her grandfather Manoling and the Bailons of San Jacinto, we were transported to a different time and place. It's truly inspiring to meet descendants of the people in the old photographs of the Paglaom Exhibit and to be reminded of the history and legacy that we all share ☺️

Meggy's a freelance graphic designer from Masbate, and art has been his passion since he was a kid. His father was an art designer too, so creativity runs in the family. Back in college, Meggy used to draw editorial cartoons and worked as a freelance illustrator. These days, he finds inspiration in movies, photography, heritage, concept art, and minimalism.
But Meggy's not just about making pretty pictures. He believes art should do more - it should move people, serve people, and represent who they are. And that's exactly what he aims for with his designs. He wants to create visuals that truly resonate with a brand's story and connect with an audience on a deeper level.
To bring his creative vision to life, Meggy draws from his diverse background - from teaching and digital marketing to his love for history and various fields of knowledge. It's this unique blend of experiences that gives his work such depth and cultural richness.
And where does the magic happen? In Meggy's cozy studio in Masbate, where he crafts his designs to the rhythms of his favorite tunes and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
It's a space that allows him to tap into his artistic genius and transform his ideas into captivating visuals. 🤩
With his win at the Museo de Ticao's Logo Competition, Meggy has proven his ability to craft a visual identity that truly sets a brand apart and
