Bakit sinasabing "magkakamag-anak ang mga wikang katutubong Filipinas?

Ang mga wika sa Filipinas ay bahagi ng malaking pamilya ng mga wang Awstronesyo. Sinasaklaw ng pamilyang ito ang mga wika mulang Formosa sa hilaga hanggang New Zealand sa timog, mulang isla ng Madagascar sa may baybayin ng Aprika hanggang Easter Islands sa gitnang Pasipiko. Tinatantiyang umaabot sa 500 wika ang miyembro ng pamilyang Awstronesyo at sangwalo (1/8) ito ng mga wika ng mundo.

Ang totoo, ang pagiging magkakamag-anak ang isang malakas na batayan ng pagbigkis sa mga itinuturing na wikang katutubong Filipinas. Kahit mga nagsasariling wika, may mga nagkakaisang katangian ang mga wikang katutubo sa gramatika, sa estruktura ng pangungusap, sa leksikon, atbp. Ito rin ang dahilan kung bakit napakadali para sa sinumang Filipino na mag-aral ng ikalawang wika ny katutubo sa Filipinas. Sa napakaikling panahon ng pagtirá sa Iloilo ay maaaring matuto ng Ilonggo ang isang Kapampangan. Ito rin ang isang saligan sa pagpili ng isang wikang katutubo bilang batayan ng wikang pambansa. Higit na mabilis na magkakaunawaan ang mga Filipino sa buong kapuluan kung isa sa mga wikang katutubo ang magiging wikang pambansa, at kahit may mahigit 100 wikang katutubo ay higit na mabilis ding mabibigkis ng damdaming makabansa.

Ang pangyayaring magkakamag-anak ang mga wika sa Filipinas at mga wika sa paligid ng Karagatang Pasipiko ay ginagamit din ngayong saligan ng teorya hinggil sa naging migrasyon ng mga tao sa dakong ito ng mundo. May nagpapalagay na mali ang teorya noon hinggil sa "mga alon ng migrasyon" ng mga unang táong tumawid ng dagat mulang Indonesia at Malaysia patungo sa Filipinas. Sa binagong haka, ang paglalakbay dagat ng ating mga ninuno (sakay ng balangay) ay pasuling-suling, pabalik-balik, at walang tiyak na direksiyon. Sa gayon, maaari pa ngang ang nangyari ay mula sa kontinenteng Asyano ang mga unang dumaong sa Batanes at Hilagang Luzon, may nanirahan doon, may gumalugad sa kabundukan at kapatagan hanggang Gitnang Luzon, upang muling magtawid dagat patimog, dumaan sa Kabisayaan at Mindanaw, hanggang makarating sa Indonesia o Malaysia.

SAN JOSE ARTS SHINES AT THE 2ND CENTRAL PHILIPPINES TOURISM EXPO

Mr. Eric G. Villamar, a local artist from San Jose and the president of the Gintong Tamaraw Artists Association of San Jose, attended the prestigious 2nd Central Philippines Tourism Expo (CPTEx) held at SM City Puerto Princesa, Palawan, from July 19 to 21, 2024.

At the expo, Mr. Villamar played a pivotal role in joining in the MIMAROPA Region’s pavilion. He showcased a diverse collection of his own artworks alongside various art products and handicrafts from San Jose. His participation not only highlighted the rich artistic heritage of the municipality and the region but also provided an invaluable platform for cultural exchange and appreciation. Throughout the event, Mr. Villamar captivated booth visitors with live painting demonstrations, allowing them to witness the creative process firsthand and fostering a deeper connection to the local culture. These demonstrations drew significant attention, further elevating the profile of San Jose's artistic community. The employees of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose organized a surprise birthday celebration for Municipal Mayor, Rey C. Ladaga, at the San Jose Night Market last August 4, 2024.

The celebration showed participation from various LGU offices, led by their respective Department and Section Heads.

As the night progressed, Mayor Ladaga received gifts and tokens of appreciation from the LGU employees and local groups, highlighting their respect and admiration for his tireless efforts in improving the municipality. The Night Market stall owners, who have greatly benefited from Mayor Ladaga's initiatives to boost local commerce, also joined in, presenting graceful performances.

One of the evening's highlights was the series of presentations prepared by the employees which included songs and dances.

Adding to the warmth of the celebration, Mayor Ladaga's family members made a special appearance that added a deeply personal touch to the celebration. Their presence underscored the strong familial bonds and the support system that underpins Mayor Ladaga's public service.

BUWAN NG WIKA 2024

Naging matagumpay ang pagsasagawa ng pambukas na palatuntunan bilang hudyat ng pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika ngayong unang araw ng Agosto 2024 na may temang "Filipino: Wikang Mapagpalaya."

Pinangunahan ng Occidental Mindoro State College sa pamamagitan ng Sentro ng Wika at Kultura na pinamumunuan ni Dr. Arnulfo T. Villanueva ang gawain, sa pakikipagtulungan ng Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Bayan ng San Jose sa pamamagitan ng Lokal na Tanggapan ng Turismo.

Sa kanyang pambukas na pananalita, inilahad ni Dr. Villanueva ang kahalagahan ng pagdiriwang na ito. Ipinaalala niya sa lahat ang makabuluhang papel ng wikang Filipino sa pagpapalaya ng ating kamalayan, pagyabong ng ating kultura, at pagkakaisa bilang isang bansa. Ipinaalam din niya ang mga sumusunod na gawain para sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika sa buong buwan ng Agosto, na naglalayong palakasin pa ang pagpapahalaga sa ating wika at kultura.

Tampok sa pagdiriwang ang pagpapakilala sa Bantayog-Wika bilang simbolo ng pagpapahalaga sa kultura at mga wikang katutubo. Inilarawan ni Gng. Rowena C. Ulay, Puno ng Prograna sa MAT Filipino, ang naging kasaysayan ng pagpapatayo ng estruktura at ang kahalagahan nito sa pagpreserba ng ating mga katutubong wika. Aniya, ang Bantayog-Wika ay isang mahalagang pamana na magsisilbing inspirasyon para sa mga susunod na henerasyon.

Isinalaysay naman ni G. Vince Xian O. Casimero, Kawaksi sa mga Pamahalaang Panturismo, ang pinagmulan ng Danglayan at kung paano ito nagiging daan upang pagyamanin pa ang wika, kultura, at sining sa bayan. Binanggit niya ang layunin ng proyektong ito na palakasin ang kakayahan ng mga San Joseño sa larangan ng kultura at sining.

Bilang pagpupugay sa Wikang Filipino at katutubo, nag-alay ng bulaklak sa Bantayog-Wika sina Mayor Rey C. Ladaga – Punong Bayan ng LGU San Jose, Gng. Ann Roxanne De Vera-Rodrigo – Puno sa Tanggapan ng Turismo, Dr. Norma B. Muyot – Pangalawang Pangulo para sa Gawaing Pang-akademiko, Dr. Melchor P. Dioso – Executive Assistant III, Dr. Ronaldo G. Orpiano – Pangalawang Pangulo para sa Pananaliksik, Pag-unlad at Ekstensyon, at Gng. Loida C. Lopez – Punong-guro ng OMSC Basic Education. Ang kanilang pag-aalay ng bulaklak ay sumisimbolo ng mataas na pagpapahalaga sa ating wika at kultura.

Sa kanyang mensahe, binigyang-diin ni Vice Mayor Santiago V. Javier, Jr. ang kahalagahan ng Wikang Filipino. Bagamat importante ang banyagang wika sa trabaho lalo na sa mga nagtatrabaho sa ibang bansa, mahalaga pa ring pagtuonan ng pansin ang pag-aaral ng ating sariling wika.

Ibinahagi naman ni Mayor Rey C. Ladaga ang kanyang patuloy na pagsuporta sa mga proyekto at gawaing mas magpapaunlad at magpoprotekta sa kultura at wikang Mangyan at Filipino. Inilahad niya rin ang ilan sa mga kaugnay na proyekto ng lokal na pamahalaan para sa kultura at sining sa hinaharap, tulad ng mga plano para sa pagpapaganda ng mga pasilidad ng Danglayan, at paglilipat sa mas kaaya-ayang lugar ng Bantayog Wika.

Nagtapos ang programa sa isang makabayang awitin mula kay G. John Patrick Rodel R. Baylon, na nagbigay ng inspirasyon at diwa ng pagmamahal sa bayan.

The Provincial Center for Culture and the Arts (PCCA) Occidental Mindoro, led by Mr. Manolo S. Navarro, recently visited the Municipal Tourism and Community Development Office (MTCDO) to conduct a meeting with Ms. Ann Roxanne D. Rodrigo, Municipal Tourism Officer, to check on the status of cultural properties in the municipality of San Jose.

During the meeting, they discussed in detail the various culture and arts programs and activities undertaken by the municipality. Emphasis was placed on the initiatives aimed at promoting and preserving San Jose's rich heritage, reflecting the collaborative efforts to sustain and enhance the cultural identity of the community.

Meanwhile, the MTCDO pledged to collaborate closely with the PCCA on future projects. EU AMBASSADOR LUC VÉRON VISITS SAN JOSE’S NATURAL AND CULTURAL ATTRACTIONS

As a gesture of hospitality, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose, headed by Hon. Rey Ladaga, through the Municipal Tourism and Community Development Office (MTCDO), conducted a tour for European Union Ambassador Luc Véron.

During the tour, Ambassador Véron experienced San Jose’s rich natural and cultural attractions. It began with a visit to the Bato-Ili Mangyan Buhid Community, where he witnessed the rolling hills and met members of the Ufudan mga Ina Buhid as Aligon Gamat. This encounter allowed him to appreciate their unique local crafts, culminating in a memorable photo opportunity with the iconic Bato-Ili Rock Formation.

The ambassador’s itinerary continued with a visit to Devil’s Mountain, known for its striking natural beauty and mystical allure. This was followed by an exploration of the historical Second Landing Site, providing a deeper understanding of San Jose's significant historical events.

SAN JOSEÑOS GATHER TO WITNESS THE INAUGURATION AND BLESSING OF THE FIRST-EVER TRAFFIC LIGHTS IN OCCIDENTAL MINDORO

San Jose achieved another milestone today, July 12, 2024, as the Local Government Unit (LGU) headed by Hon. Rey C. Ladaga conducted the ceremonial lighting of the first-ever traffic lights in the province of Occidental Mindoro, located at F.Y. Manalo Avenue and Rizal Street.

The activity commenced with the blessing of the traffic lights facilitated by Fr. Maphet Arevalo, followed by the ribbon-cutting led by Hon. Ladaga together with the LGU Sa Jose's elected officials, heads, employees, and tricycle drivers.

During the event, Hon. Santiago V. Javier, Jr., Municipal Vice Mayor, delivered opening remarks, followed by a message from Hon. Ladaga. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of this project in ensuring the orderliness and safety of local and visiting commuters in San Jose.

This significant development not only enhances the safety and efficiency of transportation within the municipality but also positions San Jose as a progressive and tourist-friendly destination. 𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: The Local Government Unit of San Jose, through the Municipal Tourism and Community Development Office, has taken a significant step toward sustainable local tourism development, through active participation and contributions to the Action Planning Workshop for the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan, held on July 8-9, 2024 at Paluan, Occidental Mindoro.

The workshop, attended by Municipal Tourism Officers and Municipal Planning Coordinators from various LGUs within the province, aimed to create a sustainable roadmap for tourism development in every municipality. Resource speakers, Ms. Chen Mencias, EnP, and Mr. Louie Mencias, emphasized the need to balance tourism development with the preservation of natural and cultural heritage. As such, the workshop focused on identifying and prioritizing key areas for sustainable tourism development while creating patterns for responsible tourism practices.

The successful conduct of the workshop reflects the Provincial Government of Occidental Mindoro's commitment to fostering sustainable tourism within the province, which sets the stage for an efficient implementation of a comprehensive Sustainable Tourism Master Plan of the province, guiding the future of tourism industry in the area.

Overall, the Action Planning Workshop for the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan was a significant milestone in the efforts to promote sustainable tourism in the Province of Occidental Mindoro. The LGU-San Jose, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Rey C. Ladaga, warmly welcomes European Union Ambassador Luc Véron with a traditional Mangyan dance performed by the LGU-San Jose Bayang Angat Dancers, showcasing the town's rich cultural heritage on July 08, 2024, at Seasons Hotel & Convention Center.

The purpose of his visit is to attend the Turn-Over Ceremony of Oil Spill Booms in Sablayan, which is part of the European Union's Preparedness Support to the Apo Reef Natural Park Protected Area Management Board (ARNP PAMB).

Additionally, he will conduct visitation in the Communal Agroforestry site at the ACB-BCAMP Protected Area Management and meet with the San Nicolas Fishing Community. These engagements underscore the EU's commitment to environmental protection and community development in Occidental Mindoro, fostering partnerships that support sustainable practices and local resilience.

DOT-MIMAROPA REGIONAL DIRECTOR ROBERTO P. ALABADO CONDUCTS AN INSPECTION AND VISIT TO SAN JOSE’S CULTURAL ATTRACTIONS

Department of Tourism (DOT) – MIMAROPA’s Regional Director (RD) Roberto P. Alabado had the opportunity to witness and experience San Jose’s rich cultural and artistic heritage during his visit to the municipality on June 20, 2024.

RD Alabado began his visit at the Bato-Ili Mangyan Buhid Community in Barangay Monteclaro, where he observed the community’s traditional lifestyle. He then visited the Balay Fangaligan / Weaving Center, where he was warmly welcomed by the members of Ufudan mga Ina Buhid, a group of women dedicated to preserving traditional Buhid weaving techniques.

Following this cultural immersion, he proceeded to the Naitan Bridge to witness one of San Jose’s prime natural attractions, the Devil’s Mountain. He also conducted an inspection of the DOT-DPWH road and bridge project.

He then visited the Aroma Beach Boardwalk for a meet and greet with local artists. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Binibining San Jose 2024, Ain Niqyla S. Abad; Ginoong San Jose 2024, Starlly M. Valiente; Mrs. Philippines International, Nazareth Marie Dolor-Enriquez; Sangguniang Bayan Committee Chairperson on Tourism Hon. Myrna G. Zapanta; and staff from the Municipal Tourism and Community Development Office (MTCDO). During the activity, she was able to meet Ms. Desylyn S. Enano, a young Ratagnon singer from Barangay Mapaya, and the LGU – Bayang Angat Dancers and Singers/Band.

RD Alabado, along with Municipal Mayor Hon. Rey C. Ladaga and Municipal Tourism Officer Ms. Ann Roxanne J. De Vera, also engaged with members of the Gintong Tamaraw Artists Association of San Jose, who were conducting a painting activity.

In his message, Mayor Ladaga thanked Director RD Alabado for visiting San Jose and for sharing valuable insights on enhancing the municipality’s tourism and cultural sectors.

Director Alabado expressed his gratitude for the hospitality of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose. He shared his enriching experiences with the Mangyan communities and local artists, highlighting these interactions as key strengths of San Jose’s tourism. DOT, TESDA CONDUCTS FREE ASSESSMENT FOR HOUSEKEEPING NCII FOR TOURISM ENTERPRISES IN SAN JOSE

As part of the collaborative efforts between the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to enhance tourism human capital development, DOT-MIMAROPA spearheaded a Free Competency Assessment and Certification for Housekeeping NC II for DOT-Accredited Tourism Enterprises (TEs) in San Jose. This event was held at Caregiver International Network, Inc. (CINI) from June 18 to 20, 2024.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of DOT and TESDA to develop a skilled and competent workforce ready to meet the demands of the tourism industry. It aims to provide participants with opportunities for gainful employment and sustainable livelihoods within the tourism sector. Specifically, the program focused on equipping attendees with competencies in preparing guest rooms, cleaning public areas and equipment, providing housekeeping and valet services, handling intoxicated guests, and laundering linens and guest clothing for a variety of accommodation services.

The activity saw the participation of 30 individuals from various accommodation establishments in San Jose, significantly enhancing the quality of tourism services in the municipality. DOT-MIMAROPA’s Regional Director, Mr. Roberto Alabado III, attended the event and, in his address, underscored the crucial role of tourism workers in elevating service quality, fostering tourist satisfaction, and encouraging repeat visits. He also highlighted the importance of such initiatives for the municipality’s tourism industry.

Municipal Mayor Hon. Rey C. Ladaga expressed his gratitude to DOT and TESDA for providing this valuable activity to the residents of San Jose. He conveyed his eagerness to continue collaborating with these agencies on future tourism projects.

Municipal Tourism Officer, Ms. Ann Roxanne J. De Vera, also expressed her heartfelt thanks to all individuals and agencies involved in making the activity possible. She shared her excitement about the positive impact this initiative will have on San Jose’s tourism sector in the future.

There is a total of 29 attendees who were able to receive free Certification for Housekeeping NC II after the assessment.

SAN JOSE CHAMPIONS MANGYAN CULTURAL REVIVAL WITH TWO-DAY ARTS AND CRAFTS WORKSHOP

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose, under the leadership of Hon. Rey C. Ladaga, alongside the Municipal Tourism and Community Development Office (MTCDO) headed by Ms. Ann Roxanne J. De Vera, showed its support for the Turismo sa Paaralan and the conduct of Renascence of Mangyan Arts and Crafts - a two-day workshop aimed at rekindling the traditional crafts of the young Buhids and Hanunuos was a resounding success.

The event was held at Naibuan Elementary School under the headship of Ms. Regina Sarabia, in collaboration with the Parents and Teachers’ Association (PTA) led by Mr. Rixon Estuya, Mr. Ruben Casuncad of LIGAD Art Gallery, and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Occidental Mindoro headed by Mr. Noel DR. Flores.

A total of 50 students from Barangay Naibuan participated in the workshop, where they had the opportunity to develop their skills in creating bead-based products, drawing, and writing in their traditional script, Surat Mangyan. This hands-on experience not only enriched their knowledge but also strengthened their connection to their ancestral traditions.

This initiative aligns with the Turismo sa Paaralan program at Naibuan Elementary School, focusing on the revival and sustainability of indigenous arts and crafts. The program aims to revitalize the community’s Indigenous Arts and Crafts, transfer knowledge and techniques to the younger generation, and train and establish a group of young Indigenous Peoples (IPs) to ensure the continuity of these traditional crafts. Additionally, the program seeks to enhance Turismo sa Paaralan by displaying and selling the students’ crafts in a souvenir shop, thereby promoting cultural tourism and providing economic benefits to the community.

Other partner of the said activity are Ms. Andrea Benoya, Ginoong San Jose 2024 Starlly M. Valiente, the Barangay Naibuan Council, and other sponsors who supported the T-shirt and painting fundraising efforts initiated by Mr. Ruben Casuncad. This collective effort not only preserved the Mangyan cultural heritage but also empowered the youth to become custodians of their traditions.

Prior to the workshop, Hon. Ladaga held a dialogue with the Barangay Council, the school, MTCDO, DTI – Occidental Mindoro, stakeholders, locals, and elders / gurangons to discuss current and future tourism initiatives for Barangay Naibuan. Sangguniang Bayan Member, Hon. Ariel Balmes, also attended to show his support for the activity.

LGU – SAN JOSE WELCOMES DOT-MIMAROPA REGIONAL DIRECTOR ROBERTO P. ALABADO III

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Jose, through the Municipal Tourism and Community Development Office (MTCDO), headed by Ms. Ann Roxanne J. De Vera-Rodrigo, alongside Bb. San Jose 2024, Ms. Ain Niqyla S. Abad, and other LGU employees welcomed the Department of Tourism (DOT) – MIMAROPA’s Regional Director, Mr. Roberto P. Alabado III, on his first visit to Occidental Mindoro, this day, June 19, 2024.

Adding a cultural touch to the occasion, the LGU – San Jose Bayang Angat Dancers performed a Mangyan-inspired dance. This performance not only showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Mangyan people but also highlighted the vibrant spirit and artistic talent of the San Jose community.

Regional Director Alabado's visit in the selected municipalities in the province, which will extend until June 20, 2024, is part of the DOT – MIMAROPA’s broader initiative to visit various municipalities and cities within the region. The objective of these visits is to conduct a thorough assessment of the tourism industry, identify areas for development, and ensure that the region's tourism potential is fully realized.

This visit underscores the commitment of both the DOT and the LGU of San Jose to promote and enhance the tourism landscape in Occidental Mindoro, paving the way for sustainable growth and increased tourist engagement.
