Juban Population

The population of Juban grew from 7,043 in 1903 to 35,297 in 2020, an increase of 28,254 people over the course of 117 years. The latest census figures in 2020 denote a positive growth rate of 1.87%, or an increase of 2,977 people, from the previous population of 32,320 in 2015.

"A Piece of Juban's Historical Background"

Juban used to be a part of Casiguran until the year 1817 when it became a separate parish. Juban was once the center of Hispano-European settlers in the province. Some vestiges of the Hispanic era are still visible and prominent in the major streets of the town.

The highly preserved Spanish Bahay na Bato old houses have stood the test of time. These old houses are now used as private residences but are well-taken care of. One of the ancestral houses known as Casa Feliz now serves as a homestay and venue for conferences and seminars. These remnants make the municipality of Juban one of the heritage towns in Sorsogon Province.

Today, Juban is a 4th class municipality in the province of Sorsogon. It belongs to the second district and has 25 barangays. Juban celebrates its town fiesta every 20th of June to celebrate its patron saint, St. Anthony de Padua.

"Discovering Juban"

Juban is a quiet town in the province of Sorsogon, Philippines. Some locals believe the name Gujub came from the name of the juice extracted from a particular tree growing in the locality. Then, it was used by the natives of the town as a kindling material. The town later became known as Juban and the locals as jubangnons.
