The Technical Working Group for the City Tourism Development Planning successfully completed the Workshops on problem analysis and goal setting from June 5–6, 2024.

The two-day activity was facilitated by Ms. Carminah Garcia, the Senior Tourism Operations Officer, Tourism Development Plan Division, from the Department of Tourism Central Office.

Ms. Marife Macalisang of CENRO presented the Protected Areas of Surigao City which are potential ecotourism sites and are integrated in the tourism product development and promotion plan.

More planning sessions and write shops will still be undertaken before the LTDP will be completed

𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻-𝗨𝗽

In observance of Philippine Environment Month and World Environment Day, the Surigao City Environment & Natural Resources Office, led by Engr. Jose Alfonso A. Casurra, organized a simultaneous clean-up drive across the city, today, June 5, 2024.

Participants from 32 offices, including various departments of the City Government and National Line Agencies, joined the effort to clean streets and coastal areas.

The street clean-up resulted in the collection of 18 sacks of mixed waste. The coastal clean-up gathered 21 sacks of residual waste. Recyclable materials such as plastic bottles, tin cans, glass bottles, and bottle caps were also collected.

This initiative reflects Surigao City's commitment to environmental stewardship and community involvement in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Did you know that the first raising of the Philippine flag in Mindanao took place in the City of Surigao? Right here at our City Hall, the inaugural flag-raising ceremony in Mindanao was held.

Sa pagsaulog sa National Heritage Month 2024, tag organisa nan City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office sa pagpanguna ng si City Tourism Officer Roselyn Armida Merlin ang Duyom nan Kabilin Balak ug Harana Contest niadtong Mayo 18, 2024, sa Surigao Luneta Park.

Ang "balak" usa ka pulong nga gigamit sa Pang Surigaonon ug sa lain-lain pa nga mga pinulongan sa Pilipinas aron sa pagpatin-aw sa mga tulang makahulogan. Ug ang "harana" usa ka tradisyonal nga musika, diin ang usa ka tawo, isa ka gamay nga grupo, o usa ka koro moawit nan mga kanta alang sa usa ka tawo o sa gugma.

Gipasigarbo gajud sa mga Batang Surigaonon ang ila mga talento sa Balak ug Harana, nagpamatuod kung uno ka talentado ang mga Surigaonon. Nalipay ang mga nangita sa Luneta Park kay nasaksihan nila ang mga pisa sa Harana sanan Balak.

Day 1 of 3 days Heritage Tour Guiding Training begins today May 13 and will end on May 15, 2024 at City Cultural Center, Surigao City.

The opening was attended by City Vice Mayor Hon. Alfonso Casurra and Sangguniang Kabataan Federated President Hon. Jenelyn Elduzara delivered their messages fostering the importance of Heritage. Ms. Roselyn Armida B. Merlin the City Tourism Officer also discussed the objectives of the said training.

The participants of the training are the selected tricycle drivers and sangguniang kabataan chairpersons of every barangay. The topic was all about Understanding Heritage Tourism discussed by the knowledgeable speaker Ms. Stephanie Jane E. Musico, the associate professor of Surigao del Norte State University and Mr. Vincent Eviota , President of Surigao Historical Society to discuss Surigao History and Heritage landmarks of the City.
