The College of Tourism and Hospitality Management students led by A/P Maria Concepcion A. Ang, just concluded their 2-day research study in Barangay Naneng.

The case study focused on Naneng Heritage Village Homestay potential,sustainability and challenges using the ASEAN standard framework.

𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀!

𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:
a. Each group will have a minimum of 5 members and should not be a member of the other contingent band
b. Open to all amateur bands within the city
c. No age limit
d. The members of the group may be composed of all males or females, or any combination of both
e. The use of pyrotechnic gadgets, smoke or combustible materials as props are not allowed.
f. Medley arrangement of songs is not allowed.
g. Each group will perform 3 songs during the World Tourism Month Celebration on September 27, 2024 (1 Ilocano song,1 Kalinga song, and their original composition as finale)
h. Each group will submit their own jingle composition with the World Tourism Month theme “Tourism and Peace”
i. The original composition must be not less than 3 minutes in full length and can either be in English, Tagalog, Ilocano or Kalinga dialect.
j. Tabuk City deems co-ownership of the winning and submitted original songs with the band as a promotional material for the city.
k. Bands must fill-up and complete the registration form and submit composition before September 20, 2024.
l. Participating bands are encouraged to research and explore Tabuk City’s people and culture to have a better thematic composition.
m. Deadline of submission of composition will be on September 20, 2024.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬!

The Department of Tourism- Cordillera Administrative Region Office has rounded up the 12 shortlisted applicants in the ongoing Search for the 2024 Best Cordillera Tourism Village. Congratulations to the following tourism villages for making it to the final round!

2. Sustainable Tourism Village: Damag, Jacmal & Bunhian - Aguinaldo, Ifugao
3. Batad Village - Banaue, Ifugao
4. Bantay Tourism Village - Tabuk City, Kalinga
5. Lubo Village - Tanudan, Kalinga
6. Tawang Tourism Village (Liyang Sanctuary Village) - Balbalan,Kalinga
7. Daguioman Tourism Village - Daguioman, Abra
8. Heritage Houses of Licuan-Baay - Licuan Baay, Abra
9. Barlig Poblacion Tourism Village - Barlig, Mt. Province
10. Napua Agri-Tourism Village - Sabangan, Mt. Province
11. Brgy. Shilan Community Tourism Village - La Trinidad, Benguet

An inter-agency panel of judges will be visiting the shortlisted entries for the final inspection and assessment. The criteria for judging are as follows:

* Sustainable Management- 25%
* Cultural Sustainability- 25%
* Socio-Economic and Rural Economic Development Sustainability- 25%
* Environmental Sustainability - 25%

Winning entries shall be awarded the following prizes (subject to applicable government tax/es):

* First Place: Php 1,000,000.00 plus trophy and token
* Second Place: Php 500,000.00 plus trophy and token
* Third Place: Php 200,000.00 plus trophy and token
* Runners-Up (3 entries): Php 100,000.00 plus certificates and token

As the validation approaches, the Barangay Bantay Council along with the Office of the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs gear up for the Search for Best Tourism Village this year.

4. Environmental Sustainability-25%

Further, the UNWTO defines a tourism village as rural tourism destination with cultural and natural assets that promotes and preserves rural and community based values, products, and lifestyle as well as a clear commitment to innovations and sustainability in all its aspects- economic, social, and environmental.

𝗩𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:
1. The vlogging contest is open to all junior and senior high school and college students
2. Must be a valid resident of Tabuk City
3. Must be enrolled in SY 2024-2025

𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀:
1. All submitted work must be original work and between 5-7 minutes in length, including credits. The selection committee will accept one entry per participant
2. Each Entry must focus on Hotels, Tourism Farms, Restaurants, Resorts, Pasalubong Centers/Novelty Shops or any tourism establishments in Tabuk City with the World Tourism Month theme: “TOURISM AND PEACE”
3. The video must be in landscape orientation and in the highest quality possible.
4. The content’s language must be appropriate for an audience of all ages
5. When using sounds or music in the entry, reference of information and other related sources used in the video must be cited, crediting the owner
6. All entries must begin with a 5 second full screen title page that follows the format below:
-Name of Contestant
-School Name
-Contestant’s Address
-Title of the video
-Total Runtime
7. All entries must be submitted in digital format. Entries must be submitted to [email protected] or submit personally at the Office of the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs, First Floor, Legislative Building, City Hall Compound on or before September 20, 2024
8. Participants must keep at least one copy of their video. OCTACA is not accountable for any films that are lost, damaged or do not upload correctly
9. The participant or a representative must be present during the presentation and judging on September 27.
10. Intellectual property ownership of the project remains the participant’s with the following exceptions:
-The participant grant OCTACA the right to use, reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform and or display the participant’s project video without further recompense or notification to the participant.
-OCTACA maintains the right to reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform, display, or exhibit the video for advertising, publicity and promotional purposes on their webpage at conferences, or any other venues and,
-The participants agree to be bound by the official contest rules and decisions of the judges.

Spearheaded by the Office of the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs, barangay Naneng and barangay Bagumbayan had a meeting today for the gathering of data for the submission of the application for the ASEAN Community Based Tourism Standard Awards.

Tabuk City was awarded ASEAN Clean Tourist City in 2023 and hoping to gain another award this year.

The ASEAN has created seven tourism standards under the ASEAN National Tourism Organizations which are:
1. ASEAN Green Hotel Standard
2. ASEAN Best Spa Services Standard
3. ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard
4. ASEAN Community Based Tourism Standard
5. ASEAN Homestay Standard
6. ASEAN Public Toilet Standard
7. ASEAN MICE Venue Standard

Cebu City recently earned the prestigious title of UNESCO CREATIVE CITY OF DESIGN, the second city to be conferred the title in the Philippines next to Baguio City. Meanwhile, Iloilo City has been hailed the UNESCO CREATIVE CITY OF GASTRONOMY because of its festive banquets and long-standing gastronomic traditions.

Tabuk City , under the auspices of Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero, aims to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN). Tabuk City’s inclusion will be a big step in advancing the city's tourism and economic activities bolstered by its rich natural and cultural heritage. UNESCO Creative Cities Network fosters mutual international cooperation between its member cities committed to invest in creativity as a driver to sustainable urban development.

Building a Better Relationship and Creating a Learning Culture, OCTACA Joins in Welcoming Visitors from Tuguegarao City!

The City Planning and Development Office of Tuguegarao chooses Tabuk City as their team building venue.

During the presentation of Tabuk city's best practices, Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero thanked the City Government of Tuguegarao for considering Tabuk city as their learning venue. He added that linkages with neighboring cities and provinces where best practices can be adopted will help Tabuk city and all the concerned localities prosper.

Government facilities such as the Agro Research and Development Center, Sanitary Landfill, Slaughter House, Super RHU in Agbannawag and the Kalinga Pasalubong Center were visited during the benchmarking.

The Mamungbungunon Falls in Barangay Magnao

The Mamungbungunon falls with the root word "bungon," which means "A RAINBOW", is true to its name as a rainbow appears over the falls anytime of the day.

The falls can be reached after a 30-minute hike from Magnao proper. The hike in itself is an exciting experience as series of verdant and majestic sceneries along the way feed the soul.

The activity was undertaken thru the Kumustahang Turismo sa mga Barangay or the KTB program of the Office of the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs (Phase III) of the Office of the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs and with the cooperation of the barangay local government unit of Magnao.
