This year, DOT Central Visayas partnered with the Province of Bohol to celebrate its recognition as the Philippines’ first and only Island Geopark, designated by UNESCO. Showcasing the elegance and craftsmanship of Bohol’s weaving industry, the Municipality of Tubigon highlighted its renowned Raffia Weaving, a symbol of the rich cultural heritage and creativity of local artisans. The pavilion featured intricately hand-woven chandeliers depicting whale sharks, turtles, sharks, jellyfish, coral reefs, and other marine species representing the Danajon Double Barrier Reef—the only one of its kind in the country. This collaboration not only highlighted Bohol’s natural beauty as a UNESCO Global Geopark but also underscores the significance of community-led initiatives that promote sustainable livelihoods, preserve cultural traditions, and raise awareness of the importance of protecting the Danajon Double Barrier Reef.
