SC recognizes divorce in marriage with foreigners

Previously, a Filipino citizen who was married to a foreign spouse and divorced with the foreign spouse abroad still required an annulment for purposes of remarriage within the Philippines irrespective of where the marriage occurred. The Supreme Court’s ruling eliminates that extra layer.

Update Concerning Medical Fees at St. Luke's Extension Clinic.

Effective October 1, 2017, St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLEC), the Embassy’s accredited panel physician, will begin charging a new medical examination fee:

17,025.00 PHP for adult immigrant visa applicants ages 15 and above and 9,583.00 PHP for children ages 14 and below.

This medical fee increase is based on U.S. Public Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control (USPHS/CDC) guidelines and technical instructions to replace Tuberculin Skin Tests (TST) with Interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA), a new and more reliable type of blood exam used to detect tuberculosis infection (TB).

U.S. visa policy has not changed for the Philippines. The Department of State is implementing Executive Order (EO) 13870, “Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the United States”, consistent with the recent June 26, 2017 Supreme Court order, and in accordance with the Presidential Memorandum issued on June 14, 2017. The Philippines is not on the restricted country list in EO 13870 and the U.S. Embassy in Manila welcomes visa applications for nonimmigrant travelers and immigrants from the Philippines.
