Congratulations to our Outstanding Student Researchers and Adviser! 🥳✨

We’re thrilled to recognize Leneth I. Magbutong, Arnel C. Sioco, and Cherry Mae S. Torres, BSTM students, along with their adviser, BSHM Program Head Nexofelou R. Gono, from UM Tagum College for winning "Best Three-Minute Presentation" at the 3rd Research Conference on Economy and Enterprise Studies held on October 23, 2024, at the University of Mindanao, Davao City, Philippines.

Their insightful research, "Barriers in Complying to Single-Use Plastic Ordinance in Homegrown Restaurants in Panabo City," addresses a critical issue in environmental sustainability by exploring the obstacles local businesses face in reducing plastic waste. This study not only highlights the practical challenges of implementing sustainability policies but also opens up discussions on how communities and industries can collaborate to overcome these barriers. Their work is an inspiring example of this year’s conference theme: "Harnessing the Power of Scholarly Inquiry in Attaining Sustainable Development Goals.

This achievement reflects their dedication to academic excellence and their commitment to creating positive change through research. By examining real-world issues within the tourism and hospitality industry, they are helping to shape sustainable practices that benefit our environment and local communities alike.

Congratulations to the Tourism and Hospitality Management Programs of the University of Mindanao Tagum College for competing against 28 schools from all over the Philippines in the 16th Annual National Tourism and Hospitality Students' Congress and Skills Olympics, with the theme "Championing Innovation Through a Transformative Travel Experience." The event was held at Far Eastern University in Sampaloc, Manila, on October 3-4, 2024.

16 students representing the University of Mindanao Tagum College participated in various skills competitions, showcasing their expertise in tourism and hospitality. The event was a great success and a testament to the students' talent and passion. Furthermore, out of 28 colleges and universities nationwide, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗞𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗻 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Showcasing their fundamental skills in the world of tourism and hospitality, 16 delegates from UM Tagum College UFTS-BSTM Department participated in the 16th National Tourism and Hospitality Congress and Skills Olympics held at the Far Eastern University (FEU), Manila on October 3-4, 2024.

The event aims to champion innovation through transformative travel experience for its participants.

Furthermore, Francis Kyle A. Baliar was recognized in the said event for bagging 2nd place in Travel Photography, bringing pride to UMTC.

Moreover, the students were accompanied by the BSTM Program Head, Ms. Ritchel Villaver and Faculty Ms. Shy Luna.

HMTM|| MANILA-PAMPANGA EDUCATIONAL TOUR 2024 This 4-minute+ video wraps up the first day of the Hospitality Management and Tourism Management Programs' Educational Tour. Day 1: June 13, 2024 The group departed from Tagum on June 12, 2024, to catch their early morning flight on June 13, 2024, from Davao to Manila. Upon arrival at NAIA T2, they immediately went to Intramuros for breakfast and started their tour. The first stop was Manila Cathedral; then they walked to Fort Santiago. The next stop was the Luneta/Rizal Park, where they had a light and sound show of Rizal's death history. Afterward, they had lunch at Cabalen, SM Manila, then drove to Clark, Pampanga, to check in at Best Western Plus Metro Clark Hotel. They had their brief seminar on hotel operations, had an ocular tour of their rooms, and ended the activity with a buffet dinner.
