The Dalit Festival, once known as one of the grandest festivals in Mindanao, brought life, color, and unity to Tangub City. Founded by Mayor Jennifer Tan on 1992, it was a celebration of thanksgiving for the cityโs bountiful harvest, honoring St. Michael the Archangel through vibrant street dances, elaborate parades, and the Hara sa Dalit pageant. The festival wasnโt just an event; it was a symbol of pride for Tangubanons, showcasing the cityโs rich culture and spirit to visitors from across the region.
Today, the echoes of the Dalit Festival have fallen silent kun unsa ka aligri ug ka bibo ang Fiesta kaniadto mao sad ka hilom ug ka mingaw karun, a casualty of the current administrationโs political interests, seemingly aimed at erasing the positive legacies of the past. The decision to discontinue this beloved tradition feels like a step backward for a city that once stood as a cultural beacon. Events that used to unite and uplift the community have been scaled down, leaving many to feel a deep sense of loss.

Despite some attempts to change the names of every footprint left by the Tans and erase their legacy, the people of Tangub will always remember the great leaders who shaped their city. Their legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of all who call Tangub City HOME, a testament to the lasting impact of their extraordinary service.
