𝑷𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝑻𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒚 ❤️

Paling. (Willughbeia angustifolia) is a species of flowering plant, Woody, monoecious vine in the Dogbane family. Native to some areas in Zamboanga Peninsula including Titay, Palawan, Borneo, Malaysia and Maluku island. Found in Lowland and hill mixed dipterocarp forests. Smooth, long, wide oval leaves. Small white blooms arranged in short cymes in axillary inflorescences. Round, yellow to orange berries with latex-filled epicarp. Locals describe the taste like mangosteen and santol.

It is classified as “Vulnerable” on the DENR National List of Threatened Flora.

𝑫𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘?

That the name 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒏 derives from the subanen word "Bhelangasan" which means beautiful maiden and similar to ilocano word "Balasang" which means young lady.

𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒏 𝑪𝒂𝒗𝒆 is now called 𝑴𝒂𝑻𝒊𝑳𝒖𝒎 𝑪𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒙 because the cave has three entrances: in Barangay Mate, Barangay Timalang (Municipality of Ipil) and Barangay Lumbia (Municipality of Ipil). The most accessible entrance is in Barangay Mate.

CLOSED to public due to the reports of illegal activities which will lead to the destruction of the cave.

The Eco-tourism Development and Management Plan of this cave is on process.
