EYES HERE mga Bangsa ami sa Ranaw!

Join us on July 10, 2024 for the first day of Kasipa sa Ranaw and witness our cultural masters in the province as they showcase their skills and talents in a Kasipa sa Manggis Exhibition to be held at the Parking Space of the Provincial Engineering Office, New Capitol Complex, Buadi Sacayo, Marawi City.

Kasipa sa Ranaw is a captivating Meranaw cultural sport, part of Darangen, that combines elements of ball kicking, colorful attire, and spirited yell which encapsulates the joy and cultural heritage of the Meranaws. Originating in Lanao del Sur, particularly in the municipalities of Butig, Lumba Bayabao, Maguing, and Marawi City, this unique game has gained popularity during primeval times for its slow-paced action, impressive skills, and traditional maneuvers.

Kasipa sa Ranaw has been long-forgotten since the Marawi siege. Before the calamity, we only witnessed Kasipa sa Ranaw being played and exhibited in what the locals of Marawi called Mercado and Banggolo in Marawi City during Fridays which is now part of the Ground Zero. Yet Provincial Tourism Culture and the Arts Office will take part in reviving the cultural sport considering it is part of the Darangen Path, a strategic program embedded in Lanao del Sur Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan which aims to safeguard and preserve cultural practices of the Meranaws.

Kasipa sa Manggis is an individual display of skill by kicking the rattan ball up in the air to catch gifts or items from a pabitin (a suspended rack with gift items). Usually, the items hung are colored boxes signifying the colors of the Philippine bills.

Don't miss this spectacular event towards promoting and preserving our rich cultural heritage.

Everyone is invited to watch the culturific exhibitions slated every Wednesday of this month (July 10, 17, and 24 ) and be enchanted by our cultural masters who hailed from Marawi, Butig, Maguing, and Lumba Bayabao.

This initiative is in partnership with the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage - Lanao del Sur Provincial Office.

The Provincial Tourism, Culture and the Arts Office of Lanao del Sur in partnership with the Department of Tourism is calling for interested participants for a "COMMUNITY TOUR GUIDING TRAINING" on 6 - 14 July 2024 at the Ridge Hotel, Brgy. Sagonsongan, Marawi City.

Applicants may submit their completed registration form on or before June 26, 2024 in the Tourist Information Assistant Center, Tourism, Culture and the Arts Office, Lanao People's Park Compound, Amai Pakpak St., Brgy. The Mayor of the Municipality of Wao delivers his speech today (March 4, 2024) about the Bangsamoro Parliament bill no. 271, also known as “An act creating the Municipality of Pilintangan in Lanao del Sur.” in front of Municipal Building.

Municipal Mayor Elvino B. Balicao, Jr. encourages his constituents to strongly oppose the said bill that will separate the eleven (11) Barangays of Wao to create the new new Municipality of Pilintangan.

Mayor Elvino B. Balicao, Jr. said that the bill will also create factions or separation of Muslim and Christian that is currently living in peace and harmony under the existing municipality. The Barangays that are included for the creation of the new municipality are:

•Bo-ot

•Mimbuaya

•Western

•Kadingilan

•Panang

•Muslim Village

•Buntungan

•Balatin

•Park Area

•Pilintangan

•Kili-kili East





There is some impracticality on the said parliament bill. One is the inclusion of Barangay Western which is currently where the seat of government of the Municipality is located. The Fire Station, Hospital, Municipal Police Station, Health Center, Water District, Fibeco, BJMP, and Municipal Trial Court are located on the said Barangay.

The Municipal Mayor asked that each agency of Wao to submit a position paper to the Bangsamoro Regional Office, Provincial Government Office, and to the National Government Office.

The Municipality of Wao will hold a protest this week to express disagreement on the Bangsamoro Parliament Bill no. 271.
