The barangay was kwown as Quilim during the Spanish era, later became Batuan and then Lungsodaan, its present name since 1904 when Mabini became a municipality. It is located about 9 kilometers east of Mabini central, or about 114 kilometers direct from Tagbilaran City, the provincial capital. It is bounded on the north by Cabulao Bay, on the east by Barangay Baybayon, on the southeast by Barangay
Marcelo, on the south by Tambo; and on the west by Barangay Valaga. It can be accessed from the highway- junction La Union (Tagbilaran Circumferential East Road) and Mabini Interior Road by Bus or V-hire or car. Mabini can be accessed through this highway-La Union junction either from Candijay or from Ubay. Lungsodaan residents rely mainly on fishing and farming, as their dominant source of income/livelihood. Crops grown in the barangay are rice, corn, coconut, bananas and root crop. Barangay Fiesta is every 28-29 of September in honor of San Miguel the Arkanghel, the patron saint. Residents of Lungsodaan are very peaceful, hospitable and accommodating to guests/visitors. Majority of the residents of the barangay are Roman Catholic and Sunday Mass is held at the Barangay Church, every last Sunday of the month, officiated by the Mabini Parish Priest. VIA TAGBILARAN CITY: From Cebu City by fast craft (Supercat, Ocean Jet and Weesam) to Tagbilaran (Php 600/pax one-way), then take a Van-4-hire(6 pax capacity) at Php 3,500/one way trip direct from Tagbilaran City to Lungsodaan, Mabini (2.5 hrs. If you go by a group of 5 or 6, you can really save the rental cost. Or you can also bring your own car from Cebu Port and take the regular Roll-on Roll-Off (RORO) Boat direct to Tagbilaran (Php3,500/car) or RORO via Tubigon, Bohol (5Okm to Tagbilraran). Or you may take your car to Argao, south Metro Cebu for the RORO Boat going to Tagbilaran via Catagbacan, Loon, Bohol (15km to Tagbilaran). VIA UBAY, BOHOL (Northeast):
From Cebu Port, you can take a boat to Ubay, Bohol (ETD Cebu 10.PM, ETA UBAY 4.AM) at Php290/pax/one way. From Ubay, take a bus ride to Junction La Union/Tagbilaran East Crcumferential Highway/Mabini (40 min. travel time) at P25/pax. Or, take the Van from the junction direct to Lungsodaan at P50/pax one way (15 min. You can also opt to bring your car via RORO to Ubay and ride the rest of the way from Ubay port to Lungsodaan. Once you arrive in Lungsodaan, you can rent an aircon room at Alipio Vallejos’ Lodge, good for 5 pax at Php500/room/day. You can order food by arrangement, to be cooked by the host staff. If you go want to Limadjag you can hire a motorized banca with its operator as guide at Lungsodaan fish port. You can go cruising along Lungsodaan Bay from the mangrove areas near Lungsodaan fish port to Lutason area at the north, then proceed to Popoog Point via Lungsodaan-Baybayon coast. Rental cost is Php1,500/round trip, inclusive of the two crews’ services fee and fuel for half-day session. Look for “Yo Butcon and/or Engr. Delfin Vallejos’ pumpboat operators” for motorbanca rental arrangement. Trekking, Mountain Climbing and Camping
You can go mountain trekking to Mt. Haboog or to Bawangan Karst Mountain, Caves and Forest. Camping area is at the foot of Mt. Haboog, near the Barangay Center. You can visit the Barangay Captain or the designated Barangay information officer for guide and further queries. MAJOR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS, which are potential eco-tourism sites include: Mt. Haboog; Mangrove Areas facing Lungsodaan Bay, the Buho Caves (an ancient burial site) in Tubod, Naasug, Landing, and Bawangan Karst mountain range, sitio Laka and Popoog area. A particular cave in Popoog is considered by observers as the biggest among the caves in the Bawangan-Naasu-Popoog mountain range, with bats and guano deposits; and the cave is believed to be connected to Anda Caves); the Japanese Soldiers Burial Site, Bawangan Karst Mountain and Forest Area, where a number of endangered flora and fauna species are found. The engangered fauna species include the native monkeys and carabaos. Other attractions are Popoog Point with blue water diving site; and the Limadjag Island, a magnificent atoll island formation, which is a favorite and foremost picnic area of the residents of both Lungsodaan and Baybayon. The guard observation and monitoring post of the Municipal/Barangay Bantay Dagat Task Force is now established in the Limadjag island.
