Pakistan was ranked at 83rd place on International Travel and Tourism Development Index, six places up from 89th in 2019.

Released by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the 2021 edition of the Travel and Tourism Development Index includes 117 countries.

The index ranks the countries based on the set of factors and policies that enable the sustainable and resilient development of the travel and tourism industry of each country, Radio Pakistan reported.

Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation Aftab ur Rehman Rana has termed the six points increase in the ranking Pakistan a significant progress.

Japan has secured the top spot on the index and it is followed by the US, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, UK, Singapore and Italy in the top 10 list.

Skardu Valley: The Skardu valley is located in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The valley is about 10 km wide and 40 km long. It is at the confluence of the Shigar River and Indus River. It surrounded by the large Karakoram Range. With the nearby lakes and mountains, it is an important tourist location in Pakistan. Skardu is the main town of Baltistan along the first wide bank of the river Indus. Skardu is the largest district of the Northern Areas. Baltistan is home to some of the highest peaks in the world, the Karakoram Range; Skardu is very popular with Mountaineering Expeditions. It is equally popular with high altitude trekkers, who trek to Baltoro Glacier, K2 Base Camp and Concordia. Skardu by road lies approximately 5 hours away from Gilgit and 10 hour’s drive from.
Skardu Valley is known for number of Peaks above 7000meters including K-2, Gashabrum, Mashabrum and Broad peak. Numbers of beautiful Lakes are also in Skardu valley and some of them are Shangrilla Lake, Upper Kachura lake, Sadpara lake, Blind lake & Sheoshar lake.
