Passu meaning "Mouth of River" is a small village of Upper Hunza located on Karakoram Highway. It is 145 km north of Gilgit city.
The unique cone shaped mountains and huge glaciers surrounding the valley adds to its beauty. Passu is also a heaven for trophy hunters as many record breaking Markhors are hunted here.
Passu is one of the oldest settlements of Gilgit-Baltistan and is home to many ancient Wakhi and Persian tribes who migrated here from time to time.
According to an ancient saying "Danatum Passu We Durr Gidim" the best quality wheat was produced here. People here are dependant mostly on Tourism, Hunting, livestock and farming.
