We are pleased to announce our annual Mountaineering Training and Ice Climbing Awareness Program, scheduled from December 21st to December 28th, 2024, at the stunning Mulangutti Glacier in Shimshal Valley.

The primary objective of this course is to provide an opportunity for individuals of all ages interested in mountaineering and alpine adventures. Throughout the course, you will gain essential skills, including ice climbing, rescue techniques, rope fixing, alpine-style climbing, and much more.

The purpose of this program is to make mountain adventures safer and more accessible, whether you’re planning a trek or an expedition. This is particularly valuable for young adventurers looking to explore with confidence and security.

We will also cover basic guiding training during this event, offering foundational skills for leading others in the mountains.

This training will be supervised by renowned Pakistani mountaineers, Mr. Qudrat Ali and Mr. Shaheen Baig.

Congratulations to team Shams Alpine on successfully Summiting Shifkten Sar (5300m)!

On 2nd October 2024, a group of four members successfully reached the summit of Shifkten Sar, standing tall at 5300m. The expedition was led by Mr. Shaheen Baig, accompanied by the following members:
Azri Abdul Bahar from Malaysia, Madad Ali Shah, and Majeed Karim from Pakistan.

On 1st October 2024, we began our trek from Shimshal Valley at around 9:00 AM local time. The journey to the base camp, located at 4200m, took approximately 6 hours. The trail was steep, with several challenging slopes, but we reached the base camp and set up for the night.

The following day, with favorable weather conditions, we decided to skip setting up a high camp and initiated our summit push directly from the base camp at 3:00 AM. After about 7 hours of climbing, we reached the summit at 9:40 AM local time and returned to Shimshal Valley on the same day.

The summit day was significantly more challenging than the trek to base camp. The first three hours involved navigating slippery slopes and loose rocks. However, once we reached the top ridge, the terrain stabilized, and we encountered normal slopes up to the crampon point at 5000m. While the summit route is usually covered in snow and crevasses, this time, due to the late summer conditions, we had to cross some open crevasses on our way up.

Upon reaching the summit, we were rewarded with breathtaking views. The majestic Distaghil Sar (7884m) stood right in front of us, along with several other 7000m peaks such as Malangutti Sar, Yazghil Dome, Pumari Chhish, Yukshin Gardan, Qarun-I, and Shispare. We could also see multiple 6000m peaks, including Shimshal White Horn (also known as Odver Sar), Amreen Sar, Chikorin Sar, Corner I, II, and III, Karun-II, Minglik Sar, Volyo Sar, and Chishkin Sar, among others.

One of the most exciting highlights was catching a glimpse of K2. Although distant and difficult for most people to identify, Mr. Shaheen Baig, a K2 summiter, was able to point it out to us amidst the towering peaks.

Congratulations to Our International Team for Successfully Summiting Minglik Sar (6050m)!

An international team of five members, led by the renowned Pakistani mountaineer Shaheen Baig, has successfully ascended Minglik Sar (6050m), located in the Shimshal Pamir region of the Karakoram, Pakistan.

The group embarked on this expedition on August 20th, 2024, from Shimshal Valley. It took them four days to reach Shimshal Pass, the base of Minglik Sar. On August 22nd, the team trekked to the high camp and spent the night at an altitude of 5200m. On August 23rd, al half past 3am, all members, along with our local guides, began the summit push. However, en route to the summit, one of our members from Pakistan, Arsal decided to return due to health issues, and our local guide, Kamal Uddin, escorted him back to the base camp.

The remaining four members—one from Australia, two from Spain, and one from the USA—along with Shams Alpine guides Shaheen Baig, Amin Ullah Baig, and our support team members Piyar Ali and Shakir Baig, successfully reached the summit at 9 am local time.

Congratulations to Luis for summiting his second 6000m peak, and a special congratulations to Karonny, Gerrard, Arush, and Shakir Baig for successfully conquering their first 6000m peak. Your determination and spirit are truly inspiring!

We had an incredible trip to Shimshal Pass and attempted to climb Minglik Sar with these amazing people. Despite the unpleasant weather, our team members remained cheerful and great company.

We began our journey from Shimshal Valley on July 15, 2024. After a three-day trek, we reached Shimshal Pass on July 18, 2024. All members were active and very excited about climbing Minglik Sar.

On the 5th day, July 19, after lunch, we started our trek toward high camp. Normally, it takes 2 to 3 hours, but this time we made it in one and a half hours.

On July 20, the final day for the summit push, we planned to start at 2 a.m. local time. However, due to snowfall, we started a bit late, around 3:40 a.m.

We climbed up to around 5900m, but unfortunately, we were unable to reach the summit of Minglik Sar. Due to bad weather and a crevasse near the summit that was wider compared to last year, we made a mutual decision to withdraw the summit push for safety reasons. We returned from around 5900m.
