Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the relevant authorities and national airlines, has launched an electronic service, allowing visitors who are stopping over in Saudi Arabia to get an entry visa into the kingdom.

The transit visa for stopovers allows those in transit to enter the kingdom to perform Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque, in addition to visiting the country for tourism purposes.

The ministry added that the new service is effective as of Monday, January 30. Visitors can apply for a transit visa through the electronic platforms of Saudia Airlines and Flynas.

This application will automatically be sent to the Unified National Visa Platform at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to process, following which the digital visa will be issued and sent to the beneficiary via e-mail.

A general amnesty has been approved for overstaying foreigners to exit Pakistan without paying overstay charges with a cut-off date of 31st December 2022.

After 31st December 2022, action will be initiated against overstaying foreigners who are overstaying for more than a year. Moreover, they will be blacklisted for further entry into Pakistan.

Expansion of Interview Waiver Eligibility for U.S. Visa Holders from Pakistan

As per the U.S. Embassy Islamabad website, The expansion of interview waiver eligibility at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi for Pakistani citizens who are renewing B1/B2 tourist and business visas.

Pakistani citizens of ages 45 and older and whose B1/B2 visas are valid or have expired within the last 48 months are eligible to participate.

Head of PM’s Strategic Reforms Initiatives Salman Sufi Saturday said PM Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had approved a new transit visa policy for the Afghan immigrant citizens.

Taking a notice of the issues faced by the Afghan citizens and the illegal immigration, the prime minister had accorded his nod to the new policy of issuance of on arrival visa to Afghan citizens going abroad through Pakistan, the PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.

Sufi further informed that under the new policy, the Government of Pakistan would issue 30-day transit visas to Afghan citizens within 24 hours. Those countries that had granted immigration to the Afghan citizens, could apply for transit visas from Pakistan, he added.

In 2021, Pakistanis Spent more than 2 Million Euros in Schengen Visa Fees.

VisaTribe.com requested information from "Schengen Visa Statistics" via email. According to this information, exactly 2,111,360 euros have been collected by the Schengen embassies in Pakistan last year.

Out of the 26,505 Schengen visa applications lodged in Pakistan, 13,586 visas were issued, making Pakistan one of the countries with the highest Schengen visa rejection rates.

Spain was the top favorite Schengen destination country for Pakistanis in 2021. 11,369 Pakistanis applied for a visa, of which only 4,656 visas were issued.

Germany was the second favorite Schengen destination of green passport holders. A total of 3790 Pakistanis applied for a Schengen visa through the German Embassy, out of which 2961 Pakistanis were issued visas.

Last year, the lowest number of Pakistanis preferred the Czech Republic for a Schengen visa. Only 115 people submitted their applications and 91 people managed to get visas.

The Greek embassy for Schengen Visa proved to be lucky for Pakistanis, where 324 people applied for visas and only 11 visas were rejected.

Last year became a record year in the number of foreigners obtaining Russian passport.

Over the course of 2021, nearly 736,000 foreigners obtained Russian citizenship. This was the highest figure for over 20 years, according to statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Russia

More than half of Russian passports were given to Ukrainians, mostly from the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics - 51% or 376 thousand people. The top five also includes citizens of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Uzbekistan.

As the data of the Ministry of Internal Affair shows, most people received their passports in Rostov Region (bordering Ukraine), Moscow and Moscow Region, as well as in St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region.
