BALTORO K 2 BASE CAMP TREK!
The trek to the K2 Base Camp is a popular and challenging adventure for mountaineers and trekkers. Baltoro Glacier, located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, is one of the longest glaciers outside the polar regions. K2, the second-highest mountain in the world, is situated in the Karakoram Range near the Baltoro Glacier. The trek to K2 Base Camp typically starts from the village of Askole. To reach Askole, trekkers usually drive from Skardu, the largest town in the region, to Askole. There is access to Skardu form Islamabad by flight and by road tehn by jeep to Askoli 6-7 hours drive. The trek follows the Baltoro Glacier, passing through several iconic landmarks such as Paiju, Concordia, and the Godwin-Austen Glacier.
The trek to K2 Base Camp is considered challenging due to its high altitude, rough terrain, and unpredictable weather conditions. Trekkers need to be physically fit and acclimatized to the altitude. This trek is not only a physically demanding adventure but also an opportunity to experience the stunning beauty of the Karakoram Range and witness some of the world's highest peaks. Trekking to K2 Base Camp requires proper preparation, equipment, and guidance from experienced guides and supp
Trekkers need permits to enter the restricted areas of the Gilgit-Baltistan region. These permits can be obtained through a registered trekking agency in Pakistan.
The trekking season for the Baltoro K2 Base Camp usually runs from June to September when the weather is more stable. During this period, the temperatures are relatively milder, and the trails are accessible.

Attabad Lake, is located in the Hunza Valley in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, in the extreme North of Pakistan. It was formed in January 2010 due to a massive landslide that blocked the flow of the Hunza River. The lake was created when a landslide buried the village of Attabad, blocking the Hunza River and resulting in the natural damming of the water. The formation of the lake caused significant damage, submerging parts of the Karakoram Highway, displacing local communities, and disrupting transportation and trade routes.
The lake stretches about 21 kilometers (13 miles) in length and reaches depths of over 100 meters (330 feet).
Despite its tragic origins, Attabad Lake has become a popular tourist destination due to its stunning blue waters and picturesque surroundings. Visitors can enjoy activities like boating, fishing, and sightseeing.
Efforts have been made to improve accessibility around the lake, including the construction of tunnels to bypass the submerged parts of the Karakoram Highway.
