AURA - Al Umeed Rehabilitation Association for Cerebral Palsy An Exclusive Treatment & Rehabilitation Day Center of Excellence, AURA is first of its kind in Pakistan. He was Wheel Chair bound till the end of his life.

Catering to the needs of the “differently able” brain injured children and young adults, suffering from CEREBRAL PALSY, it started only as a Treatment Center in 1985, operating from a two roomed rented premises in PECHS Karachi. It was the ‘Brain child’ of Dr Ruby Abbasi, who had received training in the BOBATH techniques in 1984 at the Bobath Center in UK. This was as a result of the traumatic ex

perience of her youngest son Bilal, falling prey to Viral Encephalitis at the age of 2.5 years. (November 29th 2005). Running exclusively on Donations, AURA gained the Tax Exemption status in Pakistan, for this purpose in 1992. Annual Accounts are audited by a Chartered Accountant as per the law. AURA Treatment & Rehabilitation Center for Cerebral Palsy is now functioning out of a spacious custom built building in Gulistan e Jauhar, Karachi since the year 2000, where the program tailored to the individual needs of these “Special” persons is offered by the dedicated Trained Technical as well as Auxiliary staff, supervised by the Principal (highly qualified Therapist) foreign qualified Occupational Therapist consultant and an Administrator. Members of the Board of AURA, offer their voluntary services for the scrupulous running of the Association, which is not possible without the philanthropy of our valuable donors. For Donations

Aura always prioritizes children's health. Various health organizations regularly visit Aura Center to ensure the well-being of children. Today, students from the School of Dental Care Professionals (SDCP) at Dow University of Health Sciences visited Aura to provide dental checkups for children with cerebral palsy and inclusive students. This initiative aimed to raise health awareness and provide specialized dental care tailored to their needs. Additionally, SDCP students distributed toothpaste and toothbrushes to the children, highlighting Dow University's commitment to community service and inclusive healthcare practices.

On Tuesday, April 30th, an Eid Milan party has held at Aura Centre, there is be a special magic show arranged to bring joy to the faces of children. Children who observed fasting during Ramadan have received gifts from Dr. Habiba Hassan and Board Member Dr. Azra Sattar. The Aura staff also receive Eidi, and a special Eid cake be cut. Lunch provided for both children and staff. On Monday, April 22nd, International Earth Day was celebrated as an annual event. Children with cerebral palsy and students from inclusive schools were given insight into the significance of Earth Day. They were educated about the benefits of environmental awareness and action, and were encouraged to actively participate by planting trees and engaging in various activities aimed at promoting environmental sustainability.

The AURA (Al Umeed Rehabilitation Association) organized a vibrant event on 23rd March to commemorate Pakistan's Resolution Day. Children with cerebral palsy and underprivileged children from inclusive schools enthusiastically participated. During the event, the children performed patriotic songs, depicting the spirit of Pakistan. Additionally, teachers engaged them in a question-and-answer session focusing on the significance of 23rd March in Pakistan's history. This interactive session not only entertained but also enriched the children's understanding of the historical events and national importance associated with the day. The dedication and effort exhibited by the teachers and staff in preparing for this day deserve sincere appreciation. Their commitment ensured the execution of the event and contributed significantly to its success.
