The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government on Friday imposed rain emergency in many districts including Swat as flash floods triggered by torrential rains wreaked havoc in most parts of the province, killing at least 193 people.
The rain emergency which came into force with immediate effect will remain in place till August 30 as Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) has warned of a โhigh level of floodโ in Khwaja Khela and associated rivers/ tributaries of Swat River.
Besides Swat, the flash floods also played havoc in Shangla, Mingora, Kohistan, DI Khan, Kalam valley Hazara division and other areas of the province.

How to get to Skardu?
By Road: The land of Eight-Thousanders is connected by the Karakoram Highway NH-35 that snakes alongside the mightly Indus river and ends at Khunjerab Pass (world's highest border crossing at 15,397 feet). In addition, the 170-km road to Skardu intersects with KKH near Jaglot, likewise, the road to Astore links KKH few kms short from that of Skardu's Road.
By Air: The two major airports in GilgitโBaltistan are Gilgit Airport and Skardu Airport, both of these were servicing flights from Islamabad only. Nevertheless, in order to promote tourism, Pakistan International Airlines Pakistan (PIA) has recently commenced its direct flight from Lahore, Karachi, Multan and Sialkot to Skardu, this year.

The interior of the mosque has rich ornamentation in stucco tracery and paneling with fresco motifs and marble inlay. Within the courtyard, the prayer hall features four minarets that duplicate the four minarets at each corner of the Mosqueโs outskirts. The entire architecture is a mark of symmetry which was known in Mughal architecture. We see that the main prayer hall is divided into seven parts by means of multi-foiled arches supported on heavy pillars, three of which bear the white marble double domes whereas the other four parts are covered with flat domes. In an effort to mirror the character of its founder, architects designed the mosque to exude boldness, vastness and majesty. The walls had been built with small kiln-burnt bricks laid in kankar, lime mortar but have a finishing of red sandstone. The steps leading to the prayer chamber and its plinth have been constructed with variegated marble. The dalans or chambers on the sides of the mosque have a unique echo system and you need to visit the mosque with a guide to experience that.
