Islamia College, is a Public Sector University located in midst of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is founded by the personal initiatives led by Sir S.A. Qayyum and Sir George Roos-Keppel in 1913, it is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Pakistan۔Initially established as Islamia College, it was granted university status by the Government of Pakistan in 2008; the word college is retained in its title for preserving its historical roots.

4:Sardar Jalaldudin Khan and Sardar Muhammad Ayub Khan’s mother lie in the small enclosure.

Ayub khan was brother of amir Yaqub khan and son of Amir Sher Ali khan,kings of Afghanistan.He defeated the british army in the battle field of Maiwand near Kandahar on 27th July, 1880 in this war, Malalei and other women also took part.This was the biggest defeat of British might in Asia.

Ayub khan was defeated by Gen Robort and Amir Abdurrahman jointly after a month in the battle of Baba Wali,Kandahar after dessertion of his supporters.He tried to get the power back but culd not.He went to Iran where he was fraudulently arrested and handed over to Britishers.He was kept in india where he died in April,1914.

He was burried in Shaikh Habib baba graveyard in Peshawar as desired by him before his death.His shrine is almost unknown to Pakistani Afghans and was once desecrated by theives.All Afghans must pay homage to our great but forgotten national hero.

The centuries-old Bazaar-e-Misgran (coppersmith's bazaar) in the historic Qissa Khwani Bazaar no more looks like a market of copperware and brassware. The number of merchants offering utensils made up of these metals is fast dwindling as falling sales is forcing most of the craftsmen to switch over to other businesses. "Our family is engaged in copper engraving profession for the last four generations but my children are reluctant to carry on with this art due to economic hardships," said Khwaja Safar Ali Safar, an engraver. Safar Ali, younger brother of Khwaja Akhtar Ali, winner of civil awards in 1980 and 1986 for his unique copper engravings, said people have started avoiding the use of copper pans because of their expensiveness. Earlier, people traditionally gave away copper crockery as part of their daughters' dowry, but now the people's preferences have changed, adding that guest rooms used to be decorated with uniquely engraved copper or brass bowls, shields, bottles, kettles and jugs. Namak Mandi: A Pioneering Gemstone Market in Pakistan Descending into Peshawar for the first time, a foreign tourist might be surprised to learn that amid the clutter of buildings in this historical city lies an important gem trading center. This market serves a wide range of buyers and sellers from Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Iran who deal with locally mined gemstones from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan . They might also be surprised that this trading hub does not have a modern name. Namak Mandi, meaning “salt market” in Urdu, was originally established decades ago as a trading center and storage facility for salt. Fifty years ago, no one could have imagined it becoming a primary trading center for rough and faceted gemstones in Pakistan. Namak Mandi is the largest market in Pakistan for trading rough gemstones.There is no record of exactly when it made the quantum leap from salt market to becoming Pakistan’s pioneering trading hub for gemstones. According to anecdotal evidence, Namak Mandi’s gemstone market began in the 1970s. Since there were only a handful of traders, the market did not operate systematically and there were no trade standards. With the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the influx of millions of Afghan refugees into Pakistan turned out to be a blessing in disguise. First, the number of traders multiplied as Afghan entrepreneurs penetrated the gem market.
